At dealer (WCT) right now. They agreed to physically check the fluid without leaving it overnight. Need to let it cool down to proper temp to check level though for about an hour. In the meantime while I wait they are greasing front u joints that I couldn't get to.

Stellar service so far. Stay tuned for update...

It has now cooled enough to start the fluid level check...

It was a little over 1/2 liter low. Dealership will be sending a note to Toyota now that they are linking together multiple units coming in with similar low (ish) fluid levels.

I will post up observations on cold shift issues when I can test.

Sorry to leave you hanging i thought I hit post reply before I left the dealer.
Mini update... 15 minute ride home and shifts feel overall better. Still need to wait until a dead cold start to test the reverse to drive major hesitation issue.

That uh, 35-40 thousand dollars you just dumped on the vehicle ain't exactly ''free.'' There is also that warranty thing all new vehicle manufacturers offer.

Hell, Dodge dealers offer better service then Toyota does. And frankly, that should be a humiliating and degrading thing for Toyota Motor Company. After all, Toyota was the idiot that signed off on a transmission that was such a PITA to check fluid levels on. [personally I think ALL auto manufacturers are morons to seal automatic transmissions like they do now.]

So what does it take for this to become such that Toyota contacts owners for a check out? I have it on my list to have checked at my 5000 .....of course...mine has driven the same from day 1 (normal to me, as this is my first toyota).....I wonder if I actually have the same issue but just have no idea....

Gigi, if it's slipping, you would know. After backing and putting it in drive, there is a definite hesitation before it grabs. Do you have the tow package? If not, you're probably ok. Unless you are having an issue, they won't check it, only if you are willing to pay if the find nothing wrong. I'm sure Toyota will issue a TB to dealerships, but they still won't check unless you are having an issue. They won't recall for 1/2 quart of tranny fluid.

It seems to hesitate.....Unless it is just me. I have at times scratched my head wondering it is REALLY hesitating, or if I'm being paranoid.....I guess I shall go in stating it occasionally hesitates....hah! (Real or perceived is good enough for me!)

Just go into the dealer and tell them something is wrong and that the transmission is slipping, chances are it's low on fluid especially if you have the tow package. Just be honest and tell them you've heard of people having low transmission fluid...that is something you shouldn't get charged for.

Even if it isn't low I would definitely get it checked out..could be something else. Either way it's worth it to go now and see whats up rather than wait and possibly break the transmission. Good luck.

Let's hope I can get a Saturday appt....smh. I'm at 1500 miles. I'd hate it to all be messed up from shizz I thought was normal. (My old cars were 2000 and 1998....so this is waaaaaay modern technology to me)
