There are no issues running the TRD intake with the s/c. Lots of people run it as do I and nobody has issues. I'm running the s/c, intake, headers, and a smaller pulley to up the boost. My truck was taken in for the reflash with the intake and headers installed with no issues. Another reason is the first gen intake wasn't carb legal.

Here is a picture I took at sema at the toyota booth of a FJ with the new s/c with the intake. So don't always believe what TRD has to say. CIMG3088_bf940b89ff382bca81cda08b2cc57aa41be1a3f8.jpg

The information found on this forum and through data I gathered from toyota is contradicting. Read all the posts in this thread and the other one and you will see what I mean. Even after I have got this information from the dealership, people in this thread are telling me it is okay to install.

This is where tuning comes in. Anytime you start forcing more air into the engine the computer and components need to be adjusted. So if you put a supercharger plus an aftermarket intake, then everything will have to be tuned to that setup. When they just put the supercharger on they are tuning it just for that with no aftermarket intake.

It's not an aftermarket intake, it's just a drop in filter.

Sorry about that, in your case you should be fine. I was referring more so to a CAI.

FWIW, you have the 1st gen TRD CAI, which is said to work just fine w/ the TRD S/C, besides it not being CARB legal (California residents etc)

They say the issue is with the 2nd gen TRD CAI causing lean issues.

you can see the design difference between the two:

I run the 2nd gen TRD CAI with my TRD S/C and have had no problems....yet

Doesn't mean it's OK or I won't have issues later. I'm hoping to do some tuning in the near future if $ is stable.

but magically they are now?

most people on XRU say the 1st gen CAI is OK. but you're saying back when the 1st gen CAI was the only one, it was not compatible?

the more and more I read about this subject, the more it just sounds like parrots repeating stuff they heard other parrots repeat on the internet. "Gadget said this and that" yet Gadget is the guy making money selling you performance parts. I don't know really what to believe.

saying not compatible means doesnt work together. got it, that it wont be covered under warranty but to say not compatable or doesnt work is wrong

Just get the URD fuel pump upgrade to prevent lean issues and swap the TRD CAI out for the Stock CAI every time you have to go in. I personally would just change my own oil. Too many shady dealerships that half ass things around now.

Now your getting it. BTW, I was going to do the supercharger regardless. I had the CAI installed before I ever dreamed of putting a supercharger on. You can call it poor planning but what it boils down for me is poor planning by TRD. As an owner trying to keep my warranty and not sneak around behind the dealers back swapping out parts when needed, I bought into their OEM aftermarket performance and it didn't work out as I had wanted. My installation manual said there were no conflicts with the supercharger and there's said that it was a conflict. I saw both copies. Problem is that mine is outdated apparently. So, I did my research and got burned anyway.

Well, the installation is complete and I got to drive the truck around for an hour or so. I'm impressed so far. It's about what I expected and I'm glad I did it. Not too loud but it will get attention. My TRD exhaust has a little more rumble it seems too. I only wish I could get the trifecta with the howl of the TRD CAI but I'm not sneaking around and putting it in and taking it out and putting it back in again. Overall I'm happy and as a bonus the dealer is doing the rear leaf TSB. The TRD quickshifter is also very nice. I got that in as well. Huge difference.

Still waiting for their resolution. Worst case it will probably go for sale on here.
