    TRD Performance Exhaust System:
Tacoma TRD Pro comes with a high-quality cat-back TRD performance exhaust system that adds an aggressive sound to Toyota’s venerable 4.0L (1GR-FE) V6 engine. From each engine bank, where exhaust gasses travel through a factory tubular-style stainless steel header, to the exhaust exit, just behind the passenger-side rear tire via a polished stainless steel dual wall tip etched with the TRD- logo, this exhaust system is all about performance. The cat-back TRD performance exhaust is constructed from mandrel-bent 304 stainless steel piping and a free-flowing muffler to reduce back pressure for a deep, throaty exhaust note without exhaust drone (or exceeding the legal 95-decibel noise limit, as required by law). Low- to mid-range torque is improved, along with overall power output (between 5-to 8-wheel horsepower, depending upon application).

Maybe I missed this math class... but when I looked at a single side MBRP system, it cost more than the TRD system. Did I look at the wrong system?

The MBRP does look like a better quality product than Toyota's. But were talking $$$$ here.

    Show me the savings!!!!

Don't think I ever said the MBRP systems were less expensive than the TRD. But, there are several eBay vendors selling the aluminized version of the dual system for $399 with free shipping, which is close to what some have said the dealers wanted for the TRD. I bought the stainless version (from an eBay vendor with free shipping) which of course cost more, but it was worth it to me for the added longevity. I didn't explore the single exhaust models as they didn't interest me. Everyone knows there's no money to be saved by buying an aftermarket cat-back system. But the enjoyment I get from listening to it will be there as long as I own the truck. It's easier to justify if you amortize the cost over 10-15 years.

I was wondering if the carbon might have something to do with it but I was happy it mellowed out..
