Still uses an accordion hose and its a wet filter. I had to clean my MAF sensor constantly when I was running a K&N drop in filter on my STI.

    I'll keep my money :)

When I was asking around about the TRD air box set up first thing is no it will not void your warranty only if you install the Mass air flow sensor wrong it will void that items warranty that is it. as for HP increase there are several different schools of thought on that and I tend to lean towards the more conservative side of this one but here it is.

I had a speed shop that does Dyno tuning tell me that there tends to be an increase in Hp due to the Better air flow from the setup as long as the intake air is not from in the Engine bay the Tacoma is from inside the right side fender and was told that they have seen 5 to 8 Hp increase ok to me that seems more realistic than the claims of 15 Hp gain that some claim and I am not buying into that one. My truck came with it from the Dealer so I do not know how it would been with the stock unit installed.

Install was easy, fits like OEM part should. First road trip tomorrow. Truck only has 500 miles, too early to give full review, but it looks nice, IMO.

I ordered parts separate, but from what I have read it is sold separate, surprise! K&N cleaning/oil kit probably cheaper and work just as well. No directions on how often, but under normal conditions, I would say every 30k like stock paper filter.

Yeah a real little Cheesy one a bottle of cleaner - 1 whole oz! and a bottle of a redish oil an entire 1/2 oz! and then with that all a big advertisement in full color for a kit from Toyota that will only cost me $44.95 and buy now! ..... went to O'Reilly auto parts and got the K&N one for $14.95 instead.

Best way to tell when to Clean is just hold the filter up to the light and if you can clearly see light thru entire filter just shake it off an put it back in if it is all dark clean it. One thing to Keep in Mind this is very important! do not over oil the filter or you will have issues with your Mass Air Flow sensor and have to clean it. To prevent over oiling I take the oil and put it in one of those air pressure spray cans and spray a mist on the filter only on the front side or you can use one of those small finger pump spray bottles. make sure that the filter is dry before oiling and let the oil soak in for 15 minutes before driving.

You really do not need the "special" cleaner to clean the filter good dish soap and Hot water works just as well.

Like the other 98 people said, it’s going to do nothing significant. youd basically be going for looks (and the TRD intake is hideous in my opinion) K&N is always another option for half the price. At the same time there’s engineers at Toyota that make a lot of money that designed the factory intake and said that’s good

Cant speak for 3rd gen 3.5, but I have the trd intake for my 2nd gen and absolutely love it. It looks clean, it fits perfectly, and it sounds really good. I absolutely noticed a response/power gain in the midrange, (I also have trd exhaust). Wouldn’t go any other route.
