    Hi guys,

Contemplating on upgrading my oem SR lights to a set of TRD lights with the led strips so I'd have my drl vled plus that led strip. I know you have to run power from my 12v drl fuse with like a add a fuse tap and should be able to run that led on the trd headlight. Wondering if anyone has done it and where do you get the plug for the trd headlight, dealership item? Also my SR lights would be up for sale if I upgraded!

    Thanks,
    Corey

If you end up doing it, let me know, I am buying a set of lights from another member here, so once they arrive and I get them swapped, my stock TRD lights will be up for sale.

Gents, let me know when you sell your lights. I do light mods and would be interested in picking these up from you.

    Thanks.

I don't think they are plug and play because we don't have the LED Bar DRL Thing switch option.

I think all you got to do I get the harness and use a fuse tap and go straight into the drl fuse and it should power the L shape drl and it won't dim with the headlights or go out with the turn signals like the trd models cause these will be directly wired to 12v.

Only thing you got to get from the dealership would be the harness to plug into the headlight itself and just cut it and sauder new wires to it and connect each of them on both sides. That L shape led doesn't take that much to power so them being run off the same circuit shouldn't be a issue!

Thanks, but I'm far from the best. I just tinker and test a lot.
Getting the OEM harness would be nice, but if you can't source it.. not a problem. The OEM DRL wires come out of the bucket with ~6" of leads. Plenty of slack to solder your own connector or use some type of wire tap.
As for the wiring it's pretty darn simple. On the 3 pin DRL harness(This is the wire color ON THE HEADLIGHT HARNESS.. not the vehicle harness)
    1)black (ground obviously)
    2)red wire LED high
    3)orange LED low

When the red wire receives 12V, they LED strip lights up at full brightness
When the orange wire receives 12v, they lights up at half brightness.

So how do you wire it? Well, if you wired it to an ignition source, the DRL LED's would stay bright all the time and would not dim. (You don't want that)

The RED wire on LED harness needs to tap into your DRL wire (on the SR it is at the turn signal connector..sorry I don't know the color I don't have the peasant model:)
but you want the circuit to go off when the headlights come on.

The remaining wire; ORANGE needs to tap off the headlight wire. This will dim the LED Lights at night when your headlights are on.

The reason for wiring it this way is if BOTH wires receive power at the same time.. the LED strip will default to the bright setting.
Hope this helps. Here are a few pics to get an idea

Just hook up the red wire and call it a day, no reason to dim them, the more light the better!!!! :goingcrazy:

Do whatever you want, but at night on full brightness they are pretty damn blinding. I'm just describing how to hook them up and function like factory

Swap out to Amber LEDS, and use DRL LED bar to blink with flasher
