Not all thermostats flow the same when fully open.
I'm not positive but I think the stocker has more flow than the Motorad.

If it came with no fitkit the fitkit did run about 2400 but they raised prices so likely its closer to $3k now. if it was rebuilt and was around $2k its worth it. If it was more than it bleeds into just buy a new one territory.

I had a used one I was going to get for $2k but was almost $5k when all said and done to replace. no tune just fit kits. It was the blower only and did not include a rebuild.

$4k if rebuilt and all parts would be a deal.

I would be more inclined to lean on the side that agrees with you. I have visually inspected Motorad and OE designs and have found Motorad to appear "just good enough" to foot the bill.

When it comes to OE and direct OE aftermarket replacement parts, especially in today's age, the builds and designs are usually less than equal to or (rarely) OE equal to. Needless to say I would gladly pay the extra bucks for an OE unit stat anyday over Moto. Mishmoto, however, appears to be the exception, with the build quality coming in very close to the original quality which is why I was more than comfortable running it when I got it.

For our operation temps and heat issues should I toss the Mishi on? I had purchased one but some discussions around install time I held off. Likely more to colder operating environments but we live in CA. With the e-Fan install will be a good time to swap it.

Initially I was beginning to have some doubts of it around the time of those conversations but truthfully I have been happy with the 160 stat. No issues and it still reaches 180-190 at times, my oil changes have not indicated any undesirable amount of condensation present in the crankcase due to the cooler temperatures either. The heater cranks nice and hot as well whenever I want it to function as well. C

time to run the E-Fan setup I should see a better stabilization of those temperatures. I did the math on 15% duty and determined that the new setup would only draw 8.9 amps as the fan would be only be drawing 125.1 watts out of the 834 watts it's capable of, meaning the motor should have a very long life expectancy given that it will literally be running about 1/8 of its its capable output at any given point.

Getting back to it, I personally I have not seen any negatives in running the cooler temp stat. This statement applies to our California weather. Your mileage may vary in Cannuckistan and other frigid temperature spots like Lake Tahoe.

    This. Lol.

We are also talking the associated codes and possible runnability issues due to multiple parameters and components that rely on seeing thermostat activation in order to know, "oh hey, the engines thermostat opened, we are good to begin adjusting, and or turning off this component to stay within good running parameters." (I say this last part as a general statement, not specific to our or any vehicle)

So in saying that, you may need a HPT tune file which is specific to no T-stat function.

Nice ill prob toss it on when the e fan setup arrives then. My operating temps with the stock 180 have been sitting at 190 but into the low 200's on hot days.

Looks like URD can still special order the Magnuson "sub-assemby" kit for $2k. Not sure if that's a complete fit kit but might be worth a call to Magnuson

For reference.. I paid 3500 for my used S/C.. with EVERYTHING included. The 2nd owner sourced all the parts and never installed it.. so I snagged it and had a buddy who worked at the dealership install it for me on a weekend for about 500 bucks. so about ~4k all said and done.

    We do. It's "tighten it."

You will be using silicone to seal the nose to the main assembly. It's really not a huge deal as long as you don't leave it loose.
