after talking with another yota enthusiest id highly reccommend an oem part if you go this route. tight steering and no slop is worth it. id make the swap if i needed.

 

but dating a meth user may come with very limited levels of truth.

I’ve had my truck at a shop going on 3 weeks, trying to get this supercharger installed...
PuRchased through URD. The Bully dog tuner won’t read my truck, when I contacted URD, there reply was basically, that sucks, contact Magnuson... Anyone else have this problem with the bully dog tuner on a 2015 taco?

 

That’s kinda a blessing in disguise. Stop now. Get the TRD tune if you can from a dealer.

 

Yeah, a friend with an FJ had that same issue... weeks of the truck stuck at the shop now that it is home, it sucks. He is so disappointed with the URD/bully dog tune.

 

Is the tune installed before, or after the supercharger typically? The shop I have my truck at, won’t move forward with the s/c install till they can flash it. Sound about right?

 

I’m gonna make some calls to the Toyota dealers in my area. Get it installed where I currently have my truck. And hopefully take it to the dealership then.

 

Yep that sounds right. Also, if you can’t find a dealer to help, there are some resources around here that could fix you up real nice.

 

Which idlers are these exactly and if more than 1 is needed for the unit , are they both the same size?

 

The tune can be installed "before" or "after" the S/C, as in immediately before you start wrenching or immediately after you finish wrenching. A N/A truck won't run right with S/C tune and a S/C truck won't run right with a N/A tune. That said, you CAN install the S/C and limp (minimal throttle, no boost) it to the dealer for TRD tune install, assuming they're capable of flashing the tune. (A friend and I did this with ours and had zero problems.) Now that HP Tuners and @JustDSM are on the scene, better options are to buy your own HPT setup and get your tune from Justin or send him your ECU so he can flash it for you.

 

where are you located? I have a spare TRD tuned ecu for a 4x4 auto.

 

I actually have the mpvi2 hptuner. Good to know this an option. I think I’ve read more positive things about hptuners, than I have the bully dog tuner. Thanks for the advice!

 

I’m in Phoenix, Az. So I could just plug in the trd ecu and be good to go? I just got off the phone with my surrounding Toyota dealerships, and none of them have the trd tune so...

 

That’s what I hear. I’m debating a tundra rack swap.
