TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Well I don't think it’s supposed to look like that. Do we trust any parts store crank seals or should I wait for toyota to open tomorrow?

 

I can't remember who the hell made the seal. I think it was Beck Arnley, but I would go with that one vs the Toyota one. I ran that one on the front of mine and it's been smooth sailing ever since.

Actually wasn’t too bad. All I heard was just the pieces of metal hit the ground and the smoke bomb behind me

 

New crank seal in. Seems to be holding up for now.

Also for the breaking studs, is everyone breaking the bottom stud or the top? While I was on the floor contemplating life something made me try and wiggle my studs. My bottom one had a little play in it. Then I was able to loosen it by hand.. didn’t seem right to me. I pulled it out and inspected it but it seemed to look ok so I cleaned the threads and gave her a good 1/4-1/2 turn with the double nut method..

I wonder if the studs can come loose when we take the tensioner off and cause issues down the line? No clue how tight it’s supposed to be in there but I didn’t feel comfortable applying any more torque than I did.


On the plus side I finally installed my nst pulleys how ever many years later it is now..

 

The problem studs are the bottom ones mostly. You may want to replace that.

 

I will look into buying a new one. I wonder where @Athlaos got his new stud at, it seems to be stronger

Did you retighten it? It looks loose as in it backed out.

 

I did, and all seems ok for now. I wonder how long it’s been like that. I never thought to give them a little shake test.

 

I usually always do that to my studs. The fact it's been loose may have compromised their longevity though so just a small heads up Murph.
