    No he NEEDS the strainer.

The URD filter is a post filter, the pump still needs a preliminary filter otherwise it will pick up crap and potentially damage the pump due to the debris within which it picked up.

I've got water temp & voltage readouts on my headunit. What setup are you using here for boost & afm?

[Edit] I wonder if I could get my Kenwood to read out AFM...

Lotek pillar. You have to do some very minor fabrication to it. I did a decent write up I can send you if you go that route

I didnt use one on mine.. i just did the urd kit. I assumed that strainer would clog up like the oem one does over time causing fuel delivery issues

Yeah running a fuel pump without a strainer is not the right answer at all. There is a reason why OEM designs which have a in-line filter mounted on the lines (looking at you old school GM and Ford) run a strainer setup prior to the pump itself.

Despite fuel stations best efforts to filter out junk from the fuel while it is sitting in the tanks it still gets mixed in with stuff that eventually makes it through past the pump and into your tank. This is especially applicable when you show up to the fuel station and the fuel rigs are pumping fuel into the tanks. All the junk that they have and the junk that has settled at the bottom of the tanks will start floating around and make it into the pumps eventually into your fuel tank.

If whomever bought the URD kit, the pump come with a "sock" or strainer. It would be thoughtless not to install it. As above, it protects the pump.

Thanks guys for the input so far. I'll keep editing the post (below) to keep it updated. Hopefully it'll help someone else out to see the shopping list all together.

Side note, URD sells their 2.7 stealth pulley for $155, PulleyBros sell the whole Qwickchange setup with a 2.7 for $150. Cool.

@RyanL This is why you want to ensure the strainer is installed on the fuel pump. You don't want to send this crap downstream or through the pump.

Yes, I believe any pump you buy will have a "sock or strainer" with it. Definitely use it. The idea behind the URD kit is to have a replaceable filter that is even finer than the "sock" to keep the super fine stuff from getting to the injectors. As for your choice of the Walbro, it should be just fine, but if you want quieter and I will say better quality I say go with AEM or DW. And as I say that I remember that I am one of the few that have added the check ball in line with my DW.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Ratiotek HD kit installed. Noticeable difference, puts much more authority going into gear...now snout cutter, roush tensioner and 2.5” this weekend.

My garage looks like I murdered a few people in it. Holy crap there is a lot of transmission fluid in there. I topped off after three iterations at almost 6 qts. Thanks for the write up @mightytacoman and @12TRDTacoma.

Recheck your level after driving maybe 50 miles. Don't give it too much hell yet. I actually ended up putting in almost 9.5 quarts by the time it was all said and done. Tranny takes 11 to entire fill so that just goes to show how much the VB is holding.
