Well damn! I assumed there was an open filter element attached directly to that big spinning thing?
I guess you have done as many (or more) intake configs as I have :D

Amsoil is very good. I am currently using Shell Rotella T6 0W-40. Heavy duty diesel engine oil. Seems fitting. I also change oil every 1000 miles.

I wasn’t thinking. My skid has tall reinforcements on the back side. That won’t work for me.

    Thank you though.

I’d love one of those @Roostfactor pipes. I imaging there’s quite the lead time on them right now though.

I'm working on that buddy. Should have two shipped tomorrow and hoping to have @JacksonTacoma's fabbed up this week.

Your choice man. BUT, I will say that if you were to get some details on what your clearance requirements are, I can work with you to ensure fitment.

I was looking at your Y Pipe again just now. It certainly is a thing of beauty.

That said, I only have about an inch - inch and a half between the skid and the trans pan. I need a pipe that goes back around the T-case like the DT one. I suppose that pretty much kills the equal length for me.

A "Spec-U" layout would net you the layout you're looking for with equal length potential. From chatting with @Roostfactor about it, this would still put you behind the curve as far as keeping the power in the right RPM band as the Y-pipe length used in the Spec-U layout is just too long for the RPM window we need.

It would be better than an equivalent unequal length setup though.. Food for thought.

First I’m hearing of “Spec U”. I haven’t been in here in awhile. Was trying not to spend any more money on this thing for awhile.

I’m not sure why I even bother lol.

It's a older URD design that is a Ypipe/exhaust system (must be used complete).

    521CB16D-69B6-49C1-BAC0-4E56E6420609.jpg

It's pretty cleverly designed, but the execution in my opinion after running it for a year was lacking. As mentioned in my previous post, the length of the Y in this system is not tuned to the ideal RPM band of our motors like @Roostfactor's Y pipe is. While it is equal length, it still has some low RPM torque loss where as @Roostfactor's Y will not.

While I like the layout of the Spec U system, I think the execution was lacking as I mentioned. Specifically the "merge" collector, which could be improved in angle and construction. It's my opinion, that if you need a solution that has to route behind the transfer case, this is the layout you want. But I would not recommend this system ($1400) but instead use a layout similar to this with a proper merge collector and adapt that to your exhaust of choice.

Ah. Nice. I hadn’t seen that before.

Honestly, I’m no longer trying to squeeze every last pony out of this engine. The truck is big and heavy now. It’ll never be fast. I had to go back to the stock air box with an AFE drop in and a cowl intake after tubbing for 37s.

I just need a Y Pipe that works with my skids. Off road is my priority now.

    Alright, here goes...

    9030463D-612E-4E2A-8B7B-7046838EE852.jpg

    Pan / skid clearance.
    6C31F537-FFA0-4925-82A8-65689FFFA63F.jpg

It’s also close to the T-case skid crossmember. So stacked pipes into the collector like AFE wouldn’t work either.

Ahhh. I see the confusion now. Those temps are on the DD Bimmer. Not the Turbo Taco. Speaking of... I'm hungry. For tacos and boost.

So....who's going to be the first to try the new URD quick-change S/C pulley???
