TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

You cannot release a major product with little to no support for it and not expect for there to be negative repercussions from it no matter how bulletproof you think the tune is. There is destined to be issues no matter what and because it is less than a dozen guys doing this stuff out of a glorified garage you know there will be both lack of support and their financial backing will prove to be less than desirable when someone grenades their engine.

That thread is the new 3rd gen "Supercharger" thread. Let them be for the majority of them are just uneducated keyboard warriors who are diehard OVTune pee pee riders.

 

I think if he doesn't go for super high HP numbers everything will be ok. But when he tuned my truck he did say he was jealous it made more power than his 3rd gen. So hopefully he doesn't try to push 500 hp and end up biting himself in the ass. I wouldn't mind having a good boosted 3rd gen option. If anything ever happened to my truck right now, I could go grab a 3rd gen, slap on turbos, and I don't have to worry about smog for a longg time with new vehicles out here in cali.

As far as towing goes to me there will never be any sort of power adder which replaces displacement. The big V8s and Diesels are king of that arena and it pisses me off how they are releasing these new trucks neutered by going V6 with twin turbos (looking at you Ecoboost, new Toyota Sequoias and Tundras etc. Etc.) showing off equal to or larger HP numbers than their predecessors like it is a huge deal when all of this time the real victory to be had are large torque numbers when you are talking towing.

However, depending on your towing needs ecoboost isnt bad at all. Not everyone tows a 40' horse trailer.

Check out his latest post in the 4.0 ecu tuning thread. Wow. So much hype at the beginning and only two tunes for a stock pulley in over 1.5 years to show for it. Says there wasn't demand. So glad hptuners finally gave us what was hyped all along

I will admit that I am one of the 3rd gen owners who is uneducated on the topic of boost for our trucks. This is why I have read every post on this thread since it was begun almost 2 years ago and every post on the turbo b's thread. I have been burned twice by being an early adopter and plan on waiting for awhile before getting one of the OV kits . At least Gadget was honorable by sending his Mk2 y-pipe at no cost 6 months after getting his original y-pipe. If TRD had offered a supercharger for the 3rd gen I would have gotten one when it came out but that is not an option. You have no idea how jelly the 3rd gen guys are of you 2nd gen owners with boost. Our trucks need a lot of help and I will be getting one of the OV kits but I am waiting for the reviews to come in. Then I will be coming here for advice.
