TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

I’ve got DT shorties and Vibrant hi-flow cats. Runs good.

 

How’s the sound?

 

Headers and cats make a little flutter sound. I also have a URD y-pipe, but it’s been v-banded at the slip-on. Cats are welded onto the headers, but then v-banded to the y-pipe. I’m running a TRD cat-back. Second set of cats are gone due to the y-pipe. I think it sounds pretty mellow until you really mash the right pedal. I get a little burble when gearing down, but nothing like a Coyote Mustang.

 

Not sure why the online instructions don't match what came with my GL1-265, but I've atchd a copy of those. Note Figure 1, at the top of page 2.

What’s everyone’s take on cams? Haven’t even received the SC yet. May jump on this. What can I expect here?

I'm hoping for 25hp tuned. Don't think that's too unreasonable.

 

Cam profiles optimized for your setup. If you're going s/c then something like 30-40 more ponies should be doable once you've upped the boost. Which, since you're in here, you'll be doing.

Once the blower is added. The stock cams are not optimal. If Toyota had designed this motor with the blower in mind, They'd have used different cams for sure.

Along with all of other supporting stuff. More boost, Injectors, tuning, exhaust, etc. I think that kind of bump is totally doable over what it'd do with the stock cams.

I would not mind 25-40 ponies on top of the SC. Plus any other boosted adds that are going to come with it. I am tempted to go with a smaller pulley out of the gate but will hold off on that. I was thinking possibly the quick change setup.

I am tempted on the cams as well but I may be happy with cam gears alone. I currently should have them sitting in my mailbox if USPS did good on their delivery.

 

oh man, forgot about cam gears too. I have the email typed out for the cams but not really sure what I would select even if I had it. Getting a bit ahead of myself as I do not even have the SC yet. to submit or not to submit
