Was it the same as the limited/pro or different. There are a few variations of homelink mirrors. The OEM one has blue backlit buttons.

TRD Offroad is clearly the better buy and that has nothing to do with the fact that I couldnt afford a Pro.

Exactly. I added enough aftermarket stuff to mine so that getting my TRDOR is more expensive than if I were to buy a pro.

Pro is for those who want to let the factory bolt on some stuff for them.

TRDOR is for people who know how to turn some wrenches and build a machine.

I remember the latter argument with the TRD Bajas. Some went through the pain of getting the Baja to get the longer warranty on the parts (suspension, wheels mainly). Maybe not a great idea for some, but a strategy just the same. I guess the question is whether aftermarket accessories are a better buy than Toyota parts? We could, and have here, argued that one to death. Maybe tangential to this argument, Toyota accessories that you have the dealer install at purchase get the 3 year, 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty that comes with the truck. Many don't seem to know that.

One reason I got my pro, I will have had it a year here in about two weeks and have driven about 11,500 miles on it. The dealer will take it in on trade for literally just under $900 less than what I paid for it! LOL

The homelink mirror I got from Bob's Automotive Mirrors has the blue backlit buttons, but most importantly works well. The decision making at Toyota as to what accessories go on certain models and not others seems like a black hole with no rhyme or reason.

    Hey all. First post!

Hope its cool resurrecting a slightly older thread. I found it while researching the TRD. I'm in the market for one. I'm on the fence between a TRD OR and TRD Pro. This thread has been quite helpful so thank you to the OP for making it.

I'm still on the fence though. From a capability perspective, both vehicles will more than be enough for the type of activities I will do it them. Bottom line for me, I find the Pro much more aesthetically pleasing. It looks like I can change out all the parts that give the truck the look I prefer if I go with the OR. However, I like the idea of buying the truck and driving off with it looking exactly how I want it.

    So confused.

    HAHA.

I just did a build for each on the Toyota site. If I were to buy the Off Road with the options I want, the MSRP 40,505. I would then replace the grill for the Pro grill. I'd also buy new aftermarket wheels and tires. Not sure which ones so have no clue how much more they'd run me. Say I spend another $2000. I would maybe add a cat-back exhaust. MSRP wise, I be getting close to $44,515 of the Pro. Now, that is not accounting for any negotiation off of MSRP and also resale of the OEM parts I remove from the Off Road.

Looks like cement is no longer an option for the Pro. Weird. They have that Calvary Blue which I don't like at all. I would get it in white. The Off Road, I get in Cement.

When I bought my cement PRO new in September of last year I literally paid a couple grand more than the offroad you priced. With a pro you get the fox shocks too. If you're gonna lift it they bring a whole lot more on the used market than the factory OR stuff. That would have covered the price difference. Doesn't sound like much of a decision if you ask me. @anonymouscuban :D

If i could get a brand new TRD Pro for about $42k, I would buy it today. The 2017's are still going for about $45k.

That's abput what I paid for mine over a year ago. I got a good sales guy if you're near the DFW metroplex.

I'm definitely leaning towards the Pro but I'm not going to pay some ridiculous price for it. I'm in no hurry so I have time on my side. We shall see what happens. I live the in the Los Angeles area so there are plenty of Toyota dealers within a 50 mile radius of me. The most I'm willing to pay is MSRP. Not paying a dime over. But I'm going to try my best to get it lower than MSRP.

Talk to longo. They can allocate for MSRP-- will take a few months waiting.

Msrp is doable in so-cal. Got mine at msrp, but had to call about 8 dealers first. Waited about 6 weeks to arrive. You probably won’t get a pro under msrp in so-cal tho.

    Good luck!

need to learn more about this stuff
I saw a 17 pro in cement today on the lot in Santa Monica. Was just driving by. But they had it out front on the lift to showcase it. No idea what they are charging for it though. But worth a peak. With 18s our you’d think they’d be cutting a deal. Or Msrp at least

Sounds like the Pro will be a good fit for you. It’s already built with everything installed how you like it - and it’s all warrantied.

Got my Pro from Longo for MSRP, TTL equaled to almost 46k even OTD.

Totes worth it. If you're looking for a Cement Pro, (which is best Pro, not that I'm biased) Mossy Toyota in SD seems to buy a lot of used Cement Pros. They had like 5 on the lot last time I checked, one was even a MT.

They offered me 45k for mine, so the Pro has another thing going for it; resale value even higher than a normal Taco! :taco:
