    Hello,

I have 2022 tacoma trd off-road 4x4. I’m looking to change the stock wheels and trying to keep the truck in stock form for maximum reliability.
I looked into 2022 TRD pro wheel part number: PT946-35200-02
It has the same 16” diameter and same 7” wheel width as the stock wheels. However, the offset of stock wheel is +25 and offset of trd pro wheel is +13.
Is that a huge difference? Will 8mm lower offset cause rubbing or possible extra stress on components?

It will put a little more stress on components but it’s a stock configuration….I wouldn’t worry about it. They don’t do anything to the TRD Pros to make them handle the larger offset. They do use some different control arms and suspension parts but none of that is necessarily to support the tire being further out. Minimal differences overall.

Use this online tool to see what the difference will be. I run zero offset and 265/70R16 with no problems.

It's going to kick out about half an inch. Not extreme and won't hurt the truck.

I went from +30 to +4, which was little over an inch difference. It changes the looks but it's extremely subtle, if any different, behind the wheel.

if it is on the pro its ok .....and WILL NOT do anything to an OR......all the tacomas are the same except a few bolted on parts like shocks/springs
I have 2019 PRO wheels on my OR.......no difference in the ride and has a hair wider track/stance.......but raptor lights will f up your truck

I changed my grill to trd pro grill. I didn’t get the raptor lights. But I got the product from tacomabeast so it’s not OEM neither the sensor garnish for the TSS. The TSS works I checked. However, I installed the grill less than a week ago.
You think should not have changed the grill at all?

I was considering getting the raptor lights but since you said it will ruin the truck I won’t do it

Less offset causes more stress on parts, plain and simple. Minute, but it does. The tire/rim has more leverage against the wheel bearing, ball joints/control arms the further the load is out there. Don’t need data, simple physics.

As I said, “a little more stress” and that it’s a stock configuration so I would not worry about it. It’s minimal, but less offset does cause more stress, whether it matters or not.

The new Tundra is wider than 80" and needs those clearance lights to abide by FMVSS regulations...just like the Raptor and TRX. I know you know this, just putting it out there.

Every time I see a Tacoma or 4Runner with clearance lights it makes me laugh, because both are only ~75" wide and to me it screams "look at me! I'm 5" bigger than I look" kinda like those gag rulers that fishermen use to make their catch look way bigger than it is, or stuffing a gym sock in your shorts. I know most people do "raptor" lights just to be cool, because they don't know what it means and imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...but if you know what it means? It's effin hilarious.

Sad part is, on the fatass trucks where the clearance markers are required, they completely miss the entire point of the regulation by grille mounting them. True clearance markers are supposed to be roof mounted. Why, you may ask? The entire point of clearance markers was to warn oncoming traffic that there is a fat truck about to crest the other side of a hill. This was useful, back in the day, when some hill cuts were narrow enough that you needed to get to the shoulder if you met a big vehicle.

So even though these standard duty pickups are technically meeting the letter of the law because their fender flares require the running of grille lights, its still fucking dumb. Especially since you are now starting to see those absolute overweight fuck-pigs ripping along the narrow mountain fire trails. If you're wide, roof mount your shit.

Agreed. It's the whole "as high as practical" mounting location footnote in the regulation that let's them get away with grille/hood scoop mounting locations.
