I am wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I was looking at the TRD Oil Filter for my 2018 TRD Sport v6. I am confused about the different ones listed. Some say cartridge style and some not. Do our trucks take cartridge style filters or if I want to use a cartridge style filter, what other parts do I need?

The V6 takes a cartridge style filter. The non-TRD filter element is #04152-YZZA1. Not sure about the TRD part number.
No other parts needed, unless you don't have the wrench.

Thank you. Does it have a plastic housing like the old Toyotas or did they upgrade them to an aluminum housing?

Plastic. Many of us have upgraded to aluminum. Part # 15620-31060. Available on Amazon and eBay.
My wife's 2011 Highlander came with the aluminum housing, but the Tacoma didn't.

I'm about the do the same. The tech tightened my plastic housing on so tight I had to get my impact on it. Thank you free oil changes:frusty:... Not happy about the whole ordeal and am lucky mine is still usable. Will replace it eventually.

The regular filter seems fine, I don't recall anyone on here having any problems, why would you even need a TRD version?

It's the one I and others have used. Fits perfectly with no modification.
It will not show up as fitting the Tacoma as the plastic one is the OEM part.

The TRD oil filter is PTR43-00082 (cartridge style for 16+) which replaces the YZZA1. The PTR43-0080 is a spin on for 2nd gen tacos.
