New here and have been researching how to get an oem pro grill for my 2019 TRDOR. I found a local dealer who will order me the grill for 200 but said the garnish for some reason is coming up for like 500 dollars. I’ve been calling around to other dealers and they all say them same thing. Is this Toyota’s new thing to prevent people from changing the grill? Seems outlandish or a mistake to me

The TSS garnish is about $50 not $500

See that’s what I’ve been reading but if you try and google the part number right now it’s selling for hundreds from dealers

Some of the eBay sellers are actually Genuine Toyota Dealership parts departments

I know this is an old thread, but seeing the same issue. Is there really a difference between oem and the knock-offs for this piece? It just looks like a piece of plastic, but I don't want to have sensor issues (or have it look noticeably crappy).

There is a difference between oem and aftermarket garnishes. Some aftermarket garnishes would throw TSS errors, although the aftermarket one I have does not do this.

Biggest issue I see is that the aftermarket ones are much lighter in color and looks 'off' compared to OEM.

I bought a cheapo knock-off pro style grill that came with a cheapo garnish plate and I have had zero issues for over 2 years now. But my truck has not been lifted and I have stock everything else (no aftermarket bumper, etc), so maybe that has something to do with it but just guessing. Seems like a luck of the draw maybe with these aftermarket garnish plates.

Bending tacoma owners over to discourage someone putting an oem pro grille on something other than a pro is shady business practices imo.

Can you share the info or a link for the aftermarket garnish you bought?

I'm trying to ID one that is 'known' to work.

    Thanks.
