Looking at this picture on the anytime site, it looks like it just might be tapping into the aux feed. This might be a problem for those of us using harnesses like the Crux A/V harness that mirrors your phone on your display while driving. I believe both of these hardnesses (anytime camera and Crux A/V) use the same factory plug. I would assume there would be issues with piggy backing them.

Correct. I have 2 spst switches. One powers the cameras on so when pushing that power button, the HU screen automatically displays the camera view. The 2nd one switches between the front and back camera views.

Awesome. Thanks for the clarification. Would definitely been interested in pursuing this if it wasn't for my system already being setup to mirror my iPhone (and Apple TV... a story for another time). As stated, I believe my current hardness is already taking up that factory plug shown in the anytime harness.

Regardless, great writeup, great finds (with the buttons and what not). Super clean setup and I would most likely set it up exactly how you did it if I ever go this route.

It doesnt use the AUX feed. In the picture above, all that harness is doing is taking the leads that are going to the head unit from the camera and HU and adding an RCA video connection so you can use the video switcher. Otherwise, you cannot connect the camera to just the bare wires without the RCA connector. The video selector relay allows you to switch the feed to the HU from the existing rear and newly added feont camera.

I dont think the mirroring uses the wires that this harness uses. In the future, i was planning on doing the mirroring also with the harness i already have and if i remembered correctly, i would still be able to do this.

Can the power switch button be eliminated if all i want is the anytime front camera? I dont need the rear camera accessed when im not in reverse. So only want to install the front camera independitly. I also only want one button like a front camera button to push and not two buttons.

So does this mean it should work in conjunction with the HAI cable?

    This makes sense. Thanks!

Please post an update once you install the phone mirroring kit! Would love to hear if this all works together since you’ll have the two harnesses piggy backing. If they don’t use the same wires, you’re absolutley right that the should both work.

Ever wonder if you’re going to bump something in front of you when parking or 4wheeling? There’s your answer.

The power button is mainly to power the anytime rear camera, but if I didn’t have that, I would still need a switch of some type to trigger the HU to turn on so you can view the front camera, that’s why it is used for both triggering the HU and powering the front camera at the same time. If you only wanted to use the front camera, then you will need to use a dpdt switch, but you would have to do research on how to use it that way and the factory type switches don’t come in a dpdt.

I am thinking it would work with the HAI cable, since it seems like it is similar to the harness I used, but with some additional features like phone mirroring and Nav anytime mod built into the cable.

Just buy a new camera. Hot glue will keep it in place pretty permanently, but if it needed to be removed, the hot glue can be cut off with a exacto or utility knife to replace the camera. You will just need to replace it with the exact same one.

If it prevents even 1 instance of hitting a low pole, wall, rock or another persons bumper, then it is totally worth it to me.

I'm about to do this same modification but i have a couple questions before I get started. Im mounting my switches in what used to be the cubby to the left of the steering column after installing this https://www.shapeways.com/product/C...or-16-tacoma?optionId=59283471&li=marketplace.
Did you connect the switches to be able to illuminate with the dash lights, and if so how?
Where did you go through the firewall into the cab for the cables running to the front camera?

    none yet!
Can someone tell me what color LEDs, from www.CH4x4.com, best match the stock switches? I can't tell if they're white or blue.

    Thanks

@TacoTruck808 Your 180 degree camera link doesn't work, can you try cutting and pasting from a PC perhaps?
