MDS08 most of the stuff from my brother. Runs a tire shop. Not an expert, but 1000x better than me. I did novice research regarding the light bars and went with Baja onx6 and a rigid on the bumper. For the winch I did a smittybilt that came with the southernstyle off-road bumper. Recently moved to Idaho and have pulled a couple people out due to the snow. Just wanted it to look aggressive, but when camping, or shooting skeet in the middle of no-where, the light bars have been sweet.

Not to mention that a drop bracket kit doesn't improve clearance.

Agree that 3" lift is the sweet spot. 6" will be too high

    Like, so many.
Bro, don't lift it 6 inches. 3 is the sweet spot. If you go 35s, you'll need a regear. I don't think that will fit your budget.

Going with a drop bracket lift you have to cut the cross bracket on frame
I would guess this could kill the value of you truck

And IMO, anything more than 3" looks kind of goofy.

Why do people repeat this so much? Assuming clearance refers to the distance from the ground to the bottom of the skid plate or to the differential, then we can say that a majority of lifts on Tacoma’s and Jeeps (IFS, SAS, and body) do not increase clearance. Does that mean that a majority of lifts are useless? I think not. There are other advantages including:

    - increased clearance from the ground to the frame
    - increased clearance from the ground to the body
    - increased ability to fit larger tires
    - aesthetics
    - increased suspension travel
    - better ride quality

Each type of lift has its own advantages and disadvantages.

You're right there are other factors at play. When I am offroad I hit my skid more often than anything so a drop kit would be of no benefit.

A drop kit also requires cutting the frame, raises your CoG, unless I'm mistaken they don't increase your travel any more than a typical OEM replacement kit, consensus is typically that ride quality suffers. The list goes on.

Every lift has its benefits, but I don't see the negatives of a drop out weighing the positives.
