can you put the lower spoiler back on after you install the trd skid plate? Wondering if i can have both for extra protection from winter salt and sand getting on all the components. The skid plate on the sport only goes to the oil filter everything else is exposed. i have a 22 sport

You will have to modify the air dam to put it on with the TRD skid plate. (There are pics somewhere on the forum of the modification.) I personally do not like the way it looks with both the air dam and TRD skid plate installed but that's a personal preference. I would go with one or the other. Here's before and after on my truck.

I recently bought a 2020 TRD Sport and Santa got me a TRD skid plate. It looks good, install was relatively easy including removing the front chin, minus one bolt that wanted to be difficult for the new plate. It looks good, heavy you’ll get a work out laying on your back holding it in position, but most of all I’m looking forward to not having to remove the skid plate just for an oil change!

I’m guessing the same thing would work for a 2017 Sport? Why does the Toyota site say it won’t fit? o_O

Because it only "fits" the Trd Pro. Trust, it fits any 6 lug Tacoma from 2005-2015 and any Tacoma from 2016+. Just have to remove the air dam sometimes

Yep it’ll fit. You just need to follow the instructions from the OP and remove the chin spoiler and you’ll be good to go.

I just installed a factory TRD skid plate on my 21 access cab off-road and it fits just fine. My lift includes a 1 inch front differential drop. My question for those of you that have a TRD pro or have installed the TRD skid plate on your truck without a lowered front differential, what is the gap between the top of the skid plate and the bottom of the transfer case? The skid plate and the differential should not touch and some spacing is needed for the skid plate to flex. I have 1/4 to 1/2 inch and may need to add some spacers to increase that a bit. Comments ?
