Ive searched. Is there a difference between the two ? Im not looking to paste TRD logos on the truck. Its a SR-5. I was hoping if someone knows if its stronger than the existing one.

TRD has a thin metal splash guard up front. It is something but not much. Sports do not have this one, but it could be added if you remove the chin strap under the bumper. I'd just go with the TRD Pro aluminum skid plate, they allow for oil changes w/out removing it.

The small skid plate came with my TRD Sport. The larger skid plate is a TRD "Pro Style." Obviously the TRD type of skid plate offers more undercarriage protection.

Yep, if your gonna paint it, like i did, it won't make any difference anyway, IMO.

Actually, there are two versions. The older one (2017,2018) has been superseded with the current one. It didn’t have the red plastic TRD letter inserts.

How is the weight of the aluminum one compared to the TRD OR plate?

That’s the first time I have heard that. Are you sure you are not talking about the knock offs without the trd logo? The skid I bought in 2020 has the trd logo.

A thicker one would be better, but knock on wood, my OR skid has held up for my weekend warrior sessions.

I was about to research the difference between TRD Pro Skid Plate and TRD OR Skid plate that is mentioned here.

The TRD Sport and the TRD OR come with thin black metal skid plates...there's more coverage on the OR but it's still the same thin metal.

There are knock off TRD Skid plates (I did not list this as TRD Pro Skid plate because that causes misrepresentation of the TRD Skid plate) without the TRD Red lettering.

Here's my Sport skid plate and Air Dam removed and the much better looking/sexy TRD Skid plate.

I’m positive. It still has the stamped TRD logo but for 2019 they added the red plastic inserts. I’ve got a 2018 OR and tried to get the earlier style for mine but when I purchased mine, only the newer style was available.

The TRD skid plate that comes with the Pro is 1/4" aluminum and pretty stout. I've beat the shit out of it rock crawling and its holding up. It operates under the bend but dont break philosophy. It's designed pretty well in that it allows access to the oil drain plug and filter and the "wings" on the sides somewhat protect the LCA cams.

Maybe I can find some stickers for the bottom of my running shoes.
