I know this has probably been asked before, but i can't find the thread on it for some reason. I'm trying to find out what is the biggest tire i can run with TRD sports 17" rims without rubbing with stock suspension and with a 3 inch lift. Thanks ..

I plan on doing the same thing, stock 17" wheels and a 3" lift. I believe we can get away with 285/70/17's without major trimming issues.

wrong, you will rub on the uca with 285's on stock wheels. if you want to run 285's you need to either get spidertrax spacers, at least a 1/4" temporary spacer, or aftermarket wheels.

you will rub on the inner fender wells and maybe even mudflaps no matter what wheel you use with 285's. 265/70/17 tires do not rub.

That's right, I forgot to mention 1.25" spacers I plan on getting.

Edit...or did the shop say 1" spacer?? hmm

you can run 285/70/17 on trd sport wheels without spacers if they are the bfg at's. this is the only tire that i have done this with on stock wheels with no spacers and a 3" lift. clearance is less than 1/4" though.

Thank you meteora! I wanted to get a lift kit and 265/70/17 tires put on my truck. The local Les Schwab said they wouldn't install those tires on my stock wheels because they would rub far too much. From looking at the tires, they seem like they would be fine. I'm pretty sure the guy just wanted another GRAND for wheels to make his daily sales total look better!!

Another question on running the Sport wheels with the Spidertrax spacers...

I know that you need them on the front so you don't rub on the UCAs with 285/70-17s but am wondering if most people also run them in the rear as well. I like the wider stance and am thinking of running spacers front and rear. Any drawback to doing that?

I have 2006 tacoma 4x4 doublecab longbed with the TRD sport package with 17in rims ,stock tires are 265/65 /17.
What is the largest tire I can go to without any modifacations to suspension?

07 TRD off road run 285/70 17 Nitto Terra Grapplers with minimal rubbing I didn't even needed to trim. 17 inch wheels off of a FJ Cruiser stock height for now.
