Canadian vehicles are slightly different due to our slightly different regulations. Toyota has a very limited offering of Tacomas that you can buy in Canada compared to the USA, and surprisingly one model you can’t get stateside. Toyota Canada chooses the Tacoma builds they think will sell, then jumps through the approval hoops for these trims only. That why we don’t get TRDOR Long beds 4Drs and no TRDOR Short Beds in MT.

Things that differ: dashboard warning lights and symbols, gauge cluster (kM/hr versus fathoms or farthings, or whatever archaic measure is used in USA), fog light brightness and bezel shape (our fogs are required to be dimmer and more narrow in projection), tow package requirements (in Canada all pickup trucks get tow package), operation modes for headlights and parking lights, and other stuff that is not regulatory such as heated seats standard on TRD trims in Canada.

Toyota Canada figures guys want a TRDOR access cab MT, so they paid for that trim to receive approval, and tooled up in Texas to produce it. In the states Toyota USA must figure they would not sell enough to justify the production of a USA spec version.

My truck was originally sold in British Columbia and the original owner kept it for eight years. After he sold it the truck went up for auction and found its way to a dealer in Seattle. I think that the only thing they modified was the instrument cluster and adding a sticker in the driver door jamb listing vehicle capacities in English units.

On my second sport and I've taken it through anything reasonable for a stock truck. I do, however, drive on pavement more, and I drive like a bat out of hell.

I like the handling of the sport. It is a little rough on bumpy stuff but it rides and handles as one would think a truck with the word sport on it should. Also sunglass holder.

When I was younger I couldn't understand why people would buy 2wd trucks and lift the hell out of them just to daily drive them. When I grew up I realized that it was much easier and less likely to break drive shafts and components when lifting a 2wd. Basically the moral of the story is that I grew and stopped giving a fuck what other people did to their trucks. Not sure if that was clear. OP. I think it's time for you to grow up.

First Taco , 2019 sport 4x4 dcsb mt.
Daily commuter , mostly highway . Ride and suspension on sport is
better suited for pavement , I rarely do any off roading , only
need to deal with the nasty n y winter sh*t .
    Bought late in 19 , limited choices . Coming from a v8 , must
haves for me were the MT with the 4.3 gears .
I sense a little snobbery in the off road crowd .
I'm very satisfied with my selection , works for me .

Sport offers 6ft bed with double cab which is first sell point for me, the fake hood scoop doesn't hurt i like it, 6 speed auto or 6 speed manual is all offered i thought... My first off road i never used the locker and it came with tires that sucked ass in snow which is a prob for me living in upstate ny. So the sport with better tires for snow modest trim package 4 door, long bed and stuff inside that i actually use works for me. I don't off road as much as i planned when first started getting Tacoma's... Which is never because ny blows for off roading with next to 0 tails to ride on a weekly basis.

Not sure. My Dcsb Sport AT has been well over 100mph. I heard past 86mph the manual is a complete dog. I don’t have time to be sitting in sub90mph traffic.

Damn it man I got the scoop so people move out of my way. It’s like a old Chevy Caprice that you thought was a cop car! Turns out it was some dominos pizza driver with a drivers side spot light.
The sport handles turns with the stiffer suspension. It sticks curves at 80-90mph. (Could be the new Revo 2’s)
Most People that have off roads never broke 80mph. That just sounds un-American!

The trim I don't understand why anyone would buy is the 2wd TRD Off Road.

I still can't understand why someone would get a Sport over an Off-Road. Almost the same price, but you get a lot more with the Off-Road.

Especially since they get the same gas mileage, even though the Sport has the "girlie skirt"..... :luvya:

I saved $1,000’s on a sport. Didn’t think I’d want or need crawl at highway speeds

    Crawling at 110mph? Nah
Plus I’m not a millennial and the Sr packs with the stupid multiple color interior panels looked like a circus tent. I’m old, the Solid black interior with the Trd seats worked for me.8845B8A3-BFD7-4B2A-BE2F-5BA6D53AE967.jpg
Red panels inside look like some ones wife trying to paint a accent wall because they saw it on a home improvement show. My names not Skippy. (No offense to skipper) just not my style.

Again you wanna put bronze rims on a blacked out truck? Who am I to say something about it.

    IT'S NOT A SCOOP.

It's a calzone warmer. And a damned good one at that.

The Sport has the suspension I need, stock, and in my case, warranted to 120,000 miles.

Think about that when you're sitting, waiting to pay for routine repairs, on top of your modded suspension costs, all so you can lock that differential ... twice.

With the OR trim, you're paying an extended premium for diddly squat in actual investment return. I doubt that many OR owners will tolerate that suspension for long. They'll pay to upgrade it, and now that's not warranted. That's OK. The world needs people who can't plan. State lottery employees would be out of a job w/o people just like OR zealots.
