Indeed. Gray and beige are bland colors. But label them "cement" and "quicksand"... Whoa!

TRD Sport is still less corny than Tundra Rock Warrior, Colorado Trail Boss, or Wrangler Moab (which has open diffs front and rear)

One of my coworkers got a new Tacoma. Someone approached me to tell me about it, since I have one- he asked "what does TRD mean?"

When I told him, he burst out laughing.

I thought to myself, yeah- that guy gets it...lol

+1000 on the New Glarus. One of the things I miss about Wisconsin.

The other “beers”...well, what kind of guy lets a friend drink “Lite” beer?

Hey going camping and it's hot, Miller lite is great day drinking by the lake. Then at night around the fire, pull out the good stuff.

I put a light bar in my scoop so wouldn’t that make it functional?
Also like color matched fender flares and bumper. It was also a 17” rim offering rather than the 16” OR and 18” limited. I didn’t like them and got the blacked out TSS rims and able to keep the stock tires till the treads wears out and I can upgrade, at 38k and they still have a lot of wear to go.

Edit: also it was the entry level to get you option for upgrades, sunroof, blind spot monitoring, parking sensor, JBL audio, dual climate control And heated seats

For me 5 years ago when I was shopping for the Tacoma, I wanted to build a TRD off road as I had the same opinion.

Landed my 2015 Blue a ribbon Metallic TRD Sport 4x4 6speed DCSB for much cheaper (32.7k Out The Door) which seemed like a steel and couldn’t have been happier (the color made it).

The off road comes with the Bilistine shocks just no axle lock mainly.

I got a locker. Just like every other off road.
    This is 3rd gen!

Edit: are you talking 2nd gen or 2WD 3rd gen? I don't know about those. Never understood an "Off-Road" vehicle that wasn't 4x4.

I'm more confused by the limited model. I definitely agree with all the use cases OP posted, and the sport is more of a "street truck" IMO. Someone posted earlier that they wanted 4x4 for the boat ramp, and don't off road much and I think that's a great use case for the sport.

Where as the limited...thats weird IMO. Aside from the chrome, you can deck out a sport or OR for the same price. And with the OR you get MTS and Crawl in the AT's with all the same "luxury" features of the limited.

But then again, I guess if someone really loves the chrome, that's the truck to get.

To be fair, for 2016 and 2017, the Limited and the Pro were the only ones that had leather. Actually, since there was no Pro in 2016, the Limited was the only one with Leather.

I saw the sport, looked at salesman and said I want one of them with a manual transmission.

For the money, OR is the way to go. But dam the sport can take some fast corners. Oh and with manual OR, you loss the crawl control. But manual Sport, you get better rear end. None of this I knew when I ordered my Sport.

Don’t forget the outlet in the bed just like the off road. Plug those lights in.

Again my sport was several $$$$.$$ below the best price I could get a off-road for. Yes it came down to money. Also the sport didn’t have the goofy 2 tone interior. Yes some of those look good. However I’m not 20 years old and the complex black out interior and the TRD seats also sold me. I’m in my truck 3-4hrs a day. I love the sport.

In Canada it’s the only way I could get a 4 door long box and the tow package. Sunroof is also nice. Would rather have the OR if I could get long box with tow package.

Short bed serves the purpose for me. Weekend landscape projects. Any other times it serves it purpose for carrying muddy clothes and gear while my ATV is on the trailer.
