The main reason it's there is so you can keep your foot on the brake and still start the truck for steep inclines if you stall I believe. but you can damn sure start it in 4 Low in first gear on pretty good inclines! Hell yeah.

In Canada, the only 2 options for a 6MT is the TRD Sport or the TRD Pro. There is also a $10,000 price difference. I wanted Manual so Sport it is. As for where it fits. My understanding from the brochures, was it's suspension was tuned for a better ride on paved roads, but could still go off road too. Obviously not as capable as the TRD OR but still good enough for mild wheeling.

By the way you can add a mechanical locker for cheap. The LOKKA is about $400 and you can put in front or rear.

You get it too bro! This is both true and untrue at the same time sort of! Roll with me for a moment...first gen 2003 SR5 AC 4x4 5MT. Crank windows. Truck of my dreams. Was a Toyo mechanic at the time so I knew what I wanted. Beat the shit out of that truck for 16 years enduring Moab, Telluride, Durango, etc. Well, let pops borrow it a few months ago to go to breakfast while his Jeep was in for service and he got assholed by a flat-bad tow truck and pushed him into the trailer in front of him. Asshole sandwich. Anyway, totalled her (but USAA gave me 11K for it. after 16 years!) and had to get a new truck. So not by choice I proudly own my 2019 OR and enjoy the perks that come with it but would have kept my baby for another 16 years! And the only thing I ever regretted about my old truck was that I didn't get a locking rear end. But I actually needed it a few times. Get what you need guys. They're all great trucks if you use them for their intended purpose.

Sport Taco was a great tradeoff for me. Badass hood scoop, check. 4x4 for winter, check. Enough off-road capability to handle the third-world roads where I live, check. Access cab to have the fuller box, check. Stiffer suspension and AT for all the stop-and-go on the freeway, check. Beginning of an addiction, check check.

It’s “TRD Spotty Looking”, there is nothing “TRD” about it. It’s not any more R=Racing then the SR5 but it’s pretty and that definitely counts for something. It’s not for everyone but it does have its place. For me it’s either the SR5 or OR.

Beautiful pic of your truck. I'm guessing stock suspension, so gotta ask what size tires are your running on the TRD rims?

Boom, because it was more expensive for the color match premium off-road with tech package. Adding lockers after will be cheaper then getting a skewp hood painted and bumper caps painted.809F328C-BAE0-4108-9BCF-B83B9B7AD402.jpg

With 2nd gens the Sport was the only trim worth buying. They were the only ones with colour matched mirrors, handles, and the nice 17" rims.

With 3rd gens there's a far bigger market of offroads due to the similar features in regards to colour matched body parts and interior trim.

The old 2nd gen OR didn't feel special in any way. It just had a locker or Atrac. There was little reason to buy it over the cool looking sport.

As others have stated if you want an AC with a manual only way to do it is a sport. Never understood the hate on a non-functioning hood scoop..

except in my experience no one wants the scoop, because it's plastic and doesn't do anything. It doesn't even look "cool" it looks like a piece of worthless plastic trim... for the same price as an OR I'd take a locking rear diff that I would never but still could use over a hood scoop that I COULDN'T use any day. + the Hitachi suspension is stiffer than my wife's honda fit's suspension. Just my $.02

Funny thing is an SR can have 4x4 also, convenience package and you can outfit it with better suspension upgrades, radio, and everything else, etc than higher end models for a lower price than you are willing to pay Toyota to put their stuff in for you and have a sticky badge on the rear you want to remove anyway that says you fell for it. :spending:
I've seen SR's that look and ride better than much higher generic everyday looking models. The SR you buy has to have certain packages as a minimum to start, but is more cost effective if you know what you are doing..

You can also get an Access Cab OR with 6MT, which is a Canada only model.

    But I couldn’t get a V6 in manual unless I went with a TRD
