Yea, it is pretty cheap for a bunkhouse, only $50 for the night and it works well enough for us!

I bet you can attribute that dog rule to some idiots in the past that abused that and left a cabin really dirty or something. It is not that hard to keep those clean.

Yep! Now that they have more cabins, they should designate like 3 of the bunkhouses at pet friendly, but make you pay a pet deposit in case something happens.

:pccoffee: I got the snooze button like 6 times this morning. It’s not my day. Can’t wait for the weekend.

Why do you choose CB over HAM?

CB is more common. Not as many people run HAM but it is something I want to add later this year.

    RUDE

I choose CB first since it is cheaper to get into and usually everyone will have a CB in their truck, I am planning on getting my HAM license soon so I can have that as well since it usually works way better anyways. That way I can have both in the truck just in case.

That’s a fair point. It’s been around much longer and doesn’t require a license.

The group I usually go out with run HAM. We all have the Chinese knockoff handhelds and they work great within a close distance. Usually from lead truck to caboose. I’d like to get a hard mounted HAM in the truck to get more distance this year. My buddy got his setup for sub $200.

A hard mounted HAM setup has a lot of benefits over a CB. I've been planning on getting my license and installing it in the truck along with the CB. Like @ETXTacoma said the more ways to communicate the better.

Yep, I have one of the Baofeng radios in the truck, but don't use it until I have a license, only reason I have it is that I won it in a raffle last year. I do want to get a hard mounted one for longer trips, and would really like one with GMRS in it so people can track me on longer trips like family.

Yep! At Jambo, a good CB is needed, not a lot of people use HAM there, but I know a few that do and the reception and sound is much better. That and the handhelds are nice as you can hop out of a truck and carry it around and be able to spot and give directions to people that also have HAM in a truck easily.

I have 3 waterproof uhf that I have programed all grms, frs, murs, and a few others into. I have them in a pelican case. When I get on site if the ground crew doesn't have radios I give them those. I usually use murs channels. I can get 5 miles out of them consistently as long as I am high. Handheld to handheld is 2 mile max in the mountains. On long contracts I will set up a mobile repeater with a suite case solar panel and two rv batteries under a rubber bed mat and put rocks around the edges for wind.
