Actually I ink your "supposed" to mount it up front..and opposite your normal antenna..or something..idk. There are like supposed to be like guide lines for a proper setup..but mine is right behind the driver side f the cab and I have great reception and good broadcast :notsure:

And with the right spring and antenna it won't move much..that said..don't get a 5' one like me haha I still haven't found a spring that will hold it for shit..

Yeah, I got a 4' tuneable firestick.. I've heard you're supposed to mount it up front as well. Yours isn't exactly "behind" the cab though ;) It's more like above the cab behind the drivers side. Which extends way higher, instead of a bed bar that goes across, and the cab blocks the signal. I like the hinge you have on it too

I didn't know about the proximity to radio antenna deal until earlier today- but that one guy had a pretty sweet lookin setup. I'd do it on my bumper if I wasn't worried about it floppin and nailing my lights/grille. The sides of the hood look pretty probable for my placement. But might be annoying

Mike has his on the driverside of the hood..i think its nice.

ive seen it done on the bumper too..but yea..i think with just a 3' antenna is what to do there.

    It'll all buff out haha

really? wow..sweet. didn't know that. wasn't sure on my broad cast strength.

and can understand the 3' thing..could make sense due to wave lengths..but idk enough about the CBs to confirm that.

I like your placement of the antenna, how do you like it? You said it's got great signal.. What all did you do- if you dont mind me pickin your brain? What mount, how...etc.. I like the look of that a lot, and that's a heavy competitor in my decision. Might do drivers side to be unique though

He had a cheap tail gate mount. But i think he had Jerry make him one that was more sturdy..i have no idea how its holding up though as he just installed it in the last month or so..

Who? Want to drop me a link? I've been really thinking about the drivers side of hood, but think it might be too annoying haha

Nice, thanks for the pic Monte. I was thinking 3/4 of the hood up, a bit closer to the windshield than his looks.

Thanks Ben! I'm just trying to figure out logistics of runnin the coax.. How did you run it up the frame??

I wish I would've yanked the seats and seat warmer switches out of it! If I only knew how sick they would be in my Tacoma.. Matter of fact, wish I wouldn't've totalled the damn thing.. That would've been the best :cookiemonster:

Also, just remembered...they had the side dials instead of lever to lean the seat forward or backwards, that would've been a pain in the ass for an extended cab!

I'd just make your own man. What I'm going to do. Just put canvas over my bed rack. A RTT on that will be pretty high..

Yeah, it's a lot of weight up high- which jacks the center of gravity, but it's nice to have rear visibility..

I'd make my own, but moved to long beach, and don't have any welder buddies or a shop of my own haha.

Good thinkin though, I'm still quite a ways out from any more mods- besides mounting my cb stuff- still unsure of where to put my antenna. Next mod on the list is rock lights
