Took the truck in this morning to have the radio looked at(shutting off and volume not working from time to time), loud ticking from 1600-2000 rpm (drivers side only and louder than any other tacoma tick I've heard), clutch pedal creaking, and the truck bucking/shuttering from time to time when gettin goin in first gear (almost feels like the pressure plate/clutch disk are bouncing, best i can discribe it... seems odd though). Not too happy to have to take it in w/ these issues as none of them seem too bad at the moment, but I figure itll be best to have a record of the problems incase they become major problems down the road.

The kicker is that they are charging a diagonstic fee ($99) if they cannot replicate the problems. This seems kinda odd to me as the truck is rather new (purchased in Feb and has 4500 miles on it). Not sure if I should complain about it or eat it, what do yall think? Guess well see when they call w/ what theyve found. Needed to vent a bit, not too happy about being w/out my truck for a day or so. Thanks all!

I agree that it should be free and will be one way or another. I think from the way the service person worded it is that the charge is there so they have something to bill the warranty company. I'm hoping they experience the same issues i have being that they tend to happen intermittently. Just want the truck taken care of so there are no worries. Thanks all.

Toyota called. Ordered a new radio (back ordered 3-4 weeks), lubed the clutch pedal, and found that a grommet was missing from the firewall (why the ticking was so loud in the cab). No charge for anything, going to inquire w/ the manager as to why that is their policy as it seems it is not the policy elsewhere. Thanks again.
