Can anyone tell me if there is a specific purpose for those open, 4" x 7" cubby holes, one above each wheel well in the bed of my new '07 SR5 Access Cab? I asked at the dealer and they have no idea what they are for. What makes me think these recesses are for some special purpose is that there are a number of small, rectangular holes in the bottom of each, much more complex than simple drain holes. Knowing or not knowing will not change my life, but I am curious and would appreciate it if anyone can tell me the answer. Thanks.

I have not seen any accessories that use them, I always use them to throw my dogs leash, or his tennis balls when I take him out.

Not sure what there are intended for, I almost never user mine. I do however hate when I load my truck up with mulch/dirt and the cubby holes get crap in them.

The thing about that is that the divider is made for the width of the bed. Well, with some tonneau covers the rails get moved inward because of the tonneaus side rails that mount behind the bed rails. To make it work you'd have to cut some metal off of the ends of the divider. I know one guy who did it, and it worked fine.

The divider was neat, but most of the time it just got in the way. It's not real easy to remove either, when you need to utilize the space of the whole bed.

The tabs do break over time and then they want to fly out on the freeway. Just take some clear or black duct tape and put a small piece on each side to hold it in.

    nothing cool
I use those cubby holes for EVERYTHING. From bottle caps at tailgating to my dog leashes. I have the locking TuffyBox and the other smaller locking box also. But it's just easy to throw stuff in those cubby holes. Obviously you wouldn't store valuable stuff in them. But I still find them handy for my needs.

I think I am going to use the rear compartment to put a small air compressor and volume chamber in, and the front one to house a valve block, air filter and regulator. hoping it all fits.

I have a camper shell and a sleep platform on my truck so I use the cubby like a nightstand when sleeping in the back. Throw my phone, wallet, keys, flashlight, etc in when I'm crashed out in the back.
