Fuel pump is going out and blew a fuse. This happened on my Tahoe. I could replace the fuse but it would blow again.

If it was the alternator the truck's electronics would run off of battery power for a distance depending on what is being used. The truck wouldn't die all of a sudden unless you didn't notice the battery light going dim and the radio getting quieter and most likely some belt squeal.

OP, do you run your tank low on fuel on occasion?

Got a lean code and an emmissions code. Should know more by the End of the day. Toyota has it now.

He didn't say fuel pump per say, but he did say the fuse for the EFI was blown.

The verdict is . Fuel Pump is bad. Toyota is replacing under Powertrain warranty. MAF Sensor is bad. They are charging me $390 total for diagnostics and parts and install for the MAF sensor. 41 K and a bad MAF sensor. Toyota is getting a nice letter from me this evening. Thanks for all the suggestions and help! I have driven a bunch of crappy cars before I bought this new. Extremely dissappointed in the Service from my Dealer. Hopefully Toyota National is better at servicing their customers.:)

I second the alternator. Happened to my dad's Corolla. The battery light, never really refers to the battery, rather the alternator. The batter has enough to turn the engine over, but the alternator doesn't do its part.

They claim that the MAF sensor was dirty. They do not know how I did it but I must have made it dirty. It's bullshit but fighting with the Service Manager was not helping at all. He already messed up items on my truck when I bought it and can not make anything right. When I bought this new at the same dealer they turned in the wrong vin number to DMV. Called me 1 year later to let me know. I should have known they sucked. :D

So did your dirty MAF lean out the fuel pump to the point that it ruined it? Man, if it had been running lean for a long time, that wouldn't be good...

    back to bone stock.
so in summary: fuel pump is bad..will be replaced under warranty.
MAF sensor also took a dump. but due to the K&N filter, the warranty will NOT cover this..

    i get it straight?

i had a K&N on a previous truck. the amount of grease..it was like the vent hood in a eggroll factory!! i took it off, and gave it away. never again.
