I can't imagine a Toyota alternator going bad with only 26,000 miles. My wifes 98 4Runner is still running on the original alternator and it has 171,000 miles. I do believe this is an electrical problem, dealership might be the only ones to determine the real problem. Good luck and I hope the fix is a cheap one.

......and another thing, you should never run your fuel tank below a 1/4 tank. Your gas actually acts as a coolant for the fuel pump. A mechanic told me this years ago.

If you're still under warranty, tell the dealership to come and get it. I don't think it is your responsibillity to foot the towing bill on a virtually new, warranted vehicle. Good luck.

I'd go the warranty route too. 26k is awfully low for something like this.

Yeah trucks still under warranty but they said they wouldn't come get the truck because its not part of the agreement. Luckily I have a buddy in town with a flat bed trailer that can tow it in sometime next week or the week after. I know, its a long time away! If it is an electrical issue, theres only one thing I did recently to it and that was adding the PIAA driving lights behind my grill.

Just get it started and dissconnect positive cable from battery if it runs alt is good if not you probably have a bad alternator.

Fyi disconnecting your pos cable is the quickest way to ck this if your alt is border line then turn on a/c , wipers and lights if it runs alt is good. He should have never replaced the battery or bought a meter.

There are two fuses (I just checked) that relate to the charging system. On my 09 it is fuse #17, a 7.5 amp fuse. And #35, it is a big 140 amp fuse.

Could not hurt, like I said, check the basics. We know you are not charging with the voltages you PM'ed to me. Now why are we not charging? It is unlikely but still possible, and easier and cheaper than replacing the alternator.

Well I called the dealership a little earlier and he said that towing shouldn't be a problem and told me to call Toyota's main office to tell them and that they would call the dealership and work something out. Well when I called Toyota, they said since I didn't get the towing package when I bought the truck that I was SOL. I wasn't very happy with that so I called the dealer back and told him what was up and he said he would give me a call back to see if he could do anything. About 10 minutes later the dealership called me back and told me a towing company would be calling me to get my truck!!!:D Soon enough about 15 minutes later the towing company called me and told me they were on their way to get it!!! With it being about 1PM my time, I doubt they will have time to look at the truck today so hopefully tomorrow.
