Yeah a good brake service should do the trick, happend to me a couple of times. Hasn't happened since I installed new shoes on the back, I also cleaned the contact pads and greased them while I was in there.

OP, Same thing happened to me after truck sat for a couple weeks, which is rare. Was definitely an issue with the rear brakes during freeze/thaw weather cycles. I just drove it and avoided using the e-brake for a few days and problem went away.

If your brakes were locking up wouldnt you feel the pulling of the truck? If he goes to put it in gear and it just revs up without pulling how could it possibly be a braking problem. No expert yet but im just trying to make sense of it.

To be frank, it was pulling/lunging forward a little. I mean. It was very very very minimal but it was. Which is what led me to believe it was not a tranny problem. And when it let loose it just wennnnt. Lol

Thanks. I guess since my knowledge about tacoma brakes are minimal; i was just wondering if it would be a brake problem or an ebrake cable problem. For some reason i remember people mentioning that some time ago
