You're running 265/70-16's, right? If so, 265/75-16's will get you looking right, and gain you a 1/2" usable clearance.

Check out the Cooper ST Maxx. These things are quiet as hell for an aggressive tire (more quiet to me than any BFG AT's I've run over the years), and are a nice compromise between an AT and MT.

You may get recommendations for the Goodyear Duratracs. Or "Duracraps" as I call them. Loud after a few thousand miles, and sidewalls suck sweaty balls if you get in the rocks (or anything else that poses a sidewall gash or puncture hazard). Google "Duratrac weak sidewalls" and you'll get more than enough information on them.

Now, if you're running just dirt, asphalt, and some snow, and want to run a "c" rated tire instead of "e", I will say (other than noise) the duratracs did good there. But I'd not trust them further than I can throw them in rocks and sticks. Speaking from experience (lost 3 in a week). Not bashing the guys that run them, but be informed. I thought they were the "perfect tire". Until they simply were anything but.

As for the roof rack, I never was one for the "roof sliders" on the Tacomas. But, if you put a low profile roof rack on that capper, it would be lookin' tits.

If you want to ditch the roof sliders, there was a thread on here somewhere where someone did it, and showed how to demo it out and seal the holes.

Having said that, I'd up the tire size, and see how it looks from there. A lot of "beef" going on with the roof rack and capper, and a set of slightly larger and more aggressive looking tires may be all you need to balance everything out.

I can't comment on tire size recommendations for a 3" lift as I don't have a 3" lift and I don't know what would fit well for you. I do agree that larger 17" rims would also help your tires stand out a bit more as well. Good luck and post pics of your work! :)

+1 on the roof rack removal as well. I think that's part of the look issue, but maybe you use it... so just my .02

If you're going to spend $1200 you might as well add a couple hundred more and get the full 3" OME lift with Dakars assembled.

I think it's mostly in the tires.

I would start by removing the rack, more aggressive tires would help and removing the roof rack would give it a much cleaner look. The roof rack gives the truck an unbalanced look the rack is taller than the camper. My 2 cents, great looking truck though.. :hattip:

I think you need a higher lift. Why not spend a little extra and go long travel on your suspension so that you can easily run over the cast concrete parking lot stops at the mall. I'd also get rid of the hard shell and install a bestop with the SOS bed rack over the soft top. A nice roof top tent above that would fit perfectly, add on some mounted recovery boards, rotopax mounts and a high lift mounted on the side. A Demello offroad front bumper would look sweet too, gotta have the winch too so be sure to get some decent springs up front for the added weight. Lastly, a snorkle would really top off the look and come in handy with the weather we've been seeing lately.

+1 to this, the st maxx's are awesome, felt like I lifted my truck again when I got them. They are 33's but I've heard you can put them on stock suspension without trimming, I'd get those and a 1.5" AAL for the rear. Would put you around $1000 though. Here are mine for reference. I have the same thoughts as many above. lose the rack, bigger more aggressive tires, and lose the camper (unless you need/ use it) oh and painted bumper caps help to transform it as well. good luck with your selection, and post up some pics when you decide which route to go.

I've always liked the look of the racks on Tacomas. OP, here's mine with 285/75/16 with a cap and roof rack 15060070979952127211582.jpg

I agree on keeping the roof rack. I think it gives your truck the appearance of more height.

I think this is something that a change of tires would probably fix first. After that if you still want to remove the roof rack, you still can.

Not sure if it's just the picture, but you look a little low in the back half. Like you have a couple bags of sand or a few cases of beverages back there.

Chrome rear bumper makes it look off-balance. Everything else looks good to me.

Honestly I think your truck looks great!! Love the rack and the cap combo I think it looks amazing on these trucks.

Only thing I would do at this point is upsize the tires if you can. Otherwise I think it looks terrific either way.

These are sick! Just not sure how to part with my current tires that are 25% worn and pick these up with taking a hit money-wise.

Thanks! and yea any way you go about it these are a financial hit, I guess you could see if there was anyone willing to buy your current tires since they have most of their life left. I think the lowest price i've come across for these was $207 a tire at NTB but thats not including mount, balance, alignment, etc.
