+1 on losing the stock roof rails, unless you like them. I agree that it gives it a dated minivan or suv look that I dislike.

I am planning on putting a set of Thule Aero crossbars from my other vehicle on my truck, I've seen one like this and it looks much better than the stock rails.

That and more aggressive tires would help as others have said

    255/85r16 FTMFW!!!

also here is my truck for comparison.

not straight on, but the best i have. for me, next steps are 255/85r16 ST MAXXs, then an OME 2" lift. then sliders and the prinsu cabrac...

if you replaced your OEM rack with a prinsu and put one on the cap to match youd be in really good shape!

The rims are 17" actually, so I'd need to go down to 255/75R/17 for the cooper's...Which I just may!

Lost city1981 you are preaching to the choir. I have the same issue with the rack. Thought - like it was mentioned - it looked like a minivan so I put a basket on it. Not a fan of the look. Definitely would like a lift and different wheels/tries but 2 kids in college are cramping my style. I'm going broke reading TW!

I think for the 17s they are either 255/75r17 or 255/70r17, I know they make one though, and I'm pretty sure it's a little cheaper than the 16"

I think my options are 255/75r17 for the Pro's or 255/80r17 for ST Max. So now I'm torn between the two!

man i love the STMaxx. i will buy these for the life of my truck. they are so capable, so i wouldn't be considering something as aggressive as the Pros unless i was in the mud and stuff, nothing less.

I knew I should've looked that up before saying lol, but both sound like excellent choices, st maxx definitely has my vote. And I've seen the maxx's for well under 200 each.

Thanks for the input. I can get them in a bigger size, and they are cheaper than the Pros...I may just do it.

Thanks for all your help on this thread everyone! I want to order Cooper ST Maxx's in 255/75R/17. My local tire guy said this was a bad idea, as I need a 10 ply tire for the truck (255's are 6 ply?). This is the first I'd heard of any safety concerns with a 255. Can anyone weigh in?

Mine are 10 ply, but I've always thought 6ply was the normal for light trucks, 10 is heavier, more rigid and has a tougher sidewall but I've never heard anything about 6 ply being unsafe.

    1. more aggressive tires. 2. sliders. 3. cross bars or low profile rack on the topper so the factory rack and topper bars all line up. 4.take off the factory roof rack
