I have a 2003 Tacoma. When I come to a stop the truck stops hard and kind of jerks (mostly on an incline or decline slope. Today i spent $600 on new rotors, brakes, put more brake fluid, the whole nine yards, and they adjusted my rear drums. After all of that it is still doing it. I have no clue on what this is. If anyone has an idea I would like to hear it. Thanks in advance.

Look up axle wrap with 1st gen Tacomas and see if you are having the same issues. Are your leaf springs original?

I looked at some of the forums. I am not too sure it is axle wrap because it only does it when stopping not accelerating. Also for an example I will be in a drive thru and it'll jerk after I move forward only a couple of feet. I have heard it could be the A/C because I do run my A/C pretty much the entire time I drive.

Check to see if you have play in your drive shaft. Possibly the rubber around the support carrier bearing is ripped.(I believe that’s what it is called)

I got under there and tried to twist the drive shaft and didn’t feel anything.

the auto trans is not gettin signals that U have stopped

    maybe idle set to high

maybe leak in a vaccum line

try rollin in neutral b4 U have come to a stop (level ground)
( find a vacant shopping center lot !!)
truck should come to a smooth stop................will elminate the brakes/driveshaft etc

no less when U put it back into drive
    it might jerk
    it may not

no less stopped ............... in drive
    take Ur foot off brake
should move forward (no jerkin) gentle walkin pace

    good luck

Could it be.... You are feeling a bump feelIng when you are coming to a stop? Feels like someone Bump you from the rear? Transmission has a delay downshift coming to a stop

Kind of yeah, but it also happens after I just barely move up sometimes without even mashing the gas.

Sounds like the driveshaft issue I had on my 2009, one day I took it in for oil change & they were like oh yeah, we fixed that jerking, there was a recall on the driveshaft, I was stoked

Try shifting into neutral before coming to a stop. If this eliminates the jerk then its probably axle wrap.

I don't know. Back then I was traveling a lot for work & was lucky to make time to even go to the dealership. I knew there was a jerking after stopping but did not try to figure out myself. I was lucky I lived by a good dealership back then.
