Ive posted this before, but on other cars with oil LEVEL sensors, the low oil level light comes on when the level is equivalent to one quart low (or the lower dot on the dipstick). You can drive around all day with it on and it wont cause an engine failure due to oil pressure loss. It is very likely that the Toyota design is the same, but as DoorDing stated, we wouldnt know for sure unless we have a schematic from Toyota (or equivalent) showing how it operates. Waiting to see the OP's outcome.

Oops, forgot if I posted here or another 3rd gen thread. Sorry, there are so many referencing the same two 'problems' I lost track.

I think you are jumping to conclusions that I am jumping to conclusions....
I remember watching videos and never seeing oil pressure warning when they shut off either. Here is one, I don't see oil pressure warning when you shut off either. (scroll to 10:40)

Don't count me out yet. I still plan on activating the low oil level light and reving that bitch for a few min to see if low press warning kicks on.....it stopped raining so I'll do it this weekend when these hills dry up a bit. Id like to see if that @BlueT character knows what the fuck he's talking about.....

Well lets hope I am 100% wrong otherwise you going to need new engine  :D

Ok I was under the impression that you want to know if Oil pressure light comes on when truck is off.

Not a good idea at all, I know. I'll keep the revs low and watch it like a hawk....

If the pan is designed for off road the angles should not matter. If the oil level is correct the pan should have enough oil to pump at any angle. If not then the pan design is fucked. That would tell me if I were to navigate downhill for an extended amount of time the motor would eventually starve it self, even at idle. That is unacceptable.

Anything that would intentionally shut off an engine without driver input would be a huge safety liability IMHO.

There is an auto fuel shot off built in to every new car to shut off the car without driver input in the event of crash. Also most diesels will intentionally shut down under certain conditions.

I forgot about Fords system ( and others). Good call. I just wouldnt want to be driving 50 mph in 3rd gear and have my engine shut off. Rather have a bliwn engine than die.

BlueT's proof that there is an oil pressure issue with 2016 tacomas is that there is a video of a 2016 tacoma turning off properly and not having an oil pressure issue. Hahahahaha. This is amazing.

Kindergartners have more logic than this clown..

I've seen people be desperate before due to the embarassment of being so incredibly wrong, but this guy takes it to a whole new level. TW admins should start charging admission -- this entertainment is incredible.

I agree 100% I'm just stating if I were to take a 30 degree decline, per the pitch and roll indicators maximum on one of the various mountain trails here I should not have to worry about oil pumping loss. Some of these trails here go for miles at very steep pitches. If the pump cannot constantly bring oil to the motor in these conditions, I consider the design a failure. Hopefully this is not the case and no real problem exists.

BlueT, how about you go stick your Tacoma on a 45 degree up angle, then a 45 degree down angle, and during each step rev the motor to the limiter for 45 minutes. I want to see what happens.

BTW that's a joke. Don't actually do it. I don't want anyone to blow an engine.

I can only assume 30 degrees would be safe since it is the max shown on the pitch and roll instrumentation. Actual documentation from Toyota would be very helpful!

They drove it up over 40* angles in their promos. Not a problem at all.
