So, as the title states I was trying to sell my 2004 Tacoma when it was stolen by some POS. The guy that stole it drove around for almost 2 weeks before he wrecked it. Apparently he smashed into another car, jumped out of the truck and ran off. Pictures below of the truck- before and after. None of the stuff in the truck was mine- it was like he literally took everything out, threw it away (or sold it) and put all his own crap in it.
So i should settle up with my insurance company next week- they've already totaled it out- and now i'm in the market for a new Taco. Got my eye on this one- http://www.smithimports.com/vehicle-details/used-2013-toyota-tacoma-4x4--memphis-tn-id-23366620
I'm curious if anyone else fits 3 kids in the back of a 2nd gen? I'm about to have a newborn, a forward facing 2 year old, and a 5 year old in a booster seat. My wife does almost all the kid hauling so having all three kids in the Taco will not be very often (like maybe once per week). My mom has 4 kids and fit us all in a 1996 two door Pontiac grand am. As kids we would’ve loved something with 4 doors. Before the 4th was born I remember being sandwiched between to giant car seats stuffed in the back seat.

I plan on keeping my Tacoma until it dies. I hope by the time I have kids it will no longer be a primary vehicle.

I drive neices and nephews around in my truck a few times a year. Kids ranged in age from 6 to 14.

I would not want my Tacoma to be a primary family vehicle. It’s just too small. Not a whole lot of room for the kids and their backbacks and a need for a grocery trip on the way home lol

I would make sure you have a good mini van first, then worry about the Taco for a back up vehicle. Its not a good family vehicle.

if you're only having your kids in there once a week it'll work fine, thats why it has 4 doors and a backseat.

let me just add: make sure you dont have any space issues with your rear-facing child seat. Depending on the size of your passenger in the front and the seat in back it could be tight

Yeah Im with ya. Have three car seats in the back of my Tacoma. Its a regular nightmare. Only see it getting worse once they get older. Full size is in my future! Our main hauler is my wifes Pilot, though with three kids that thing is even getting tight.

Thanks, the wife has a Honda Odyssey- we use that to travel in so we're covered there.

Ahhh, the ridiculous amount of space consuming rear facing infant seat, it's crazy how much space they take up. My wife is about 5'5" so i think she'll be alright in the passenger seat.

I couldn't agree with you more!! I had just done the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs and wires, brakes, tires....blah blah blah. It had another 100k in it easy.

I think it actually gets a little easier when they get older, moving from a bulky rear facing infant seat to a forward facing seat is a game changer in terms of space gained. My soon to be 5 year old will be in a booster which should not take up as much space either (i hope).

Well look on the bright side: if he killed someone, there should be enough DNA in those britches he left on the back seat for a conviction!

I had an '05 4 runner, loved it (as expected). 4-runners are awesome but i really like the bed of my truck for hauling all my crap.

Oh man i was sooooo pissed when i saw it. Makes me sick to think what all he did to it. On a side note i found a really nice pink bra and a pair of leopard print underwear (womens) in the bed of the truck, among other awesome trinkets and treats he left...

My wife and I love our Taco, but after carefully reading your post the best advice for you is to look into a late model Four Runner SR5 2WD you will not be disipointer..

Yep, the police detectives dusted everything and went over the truck collecting whatever it is the collect. I think dude was literally living in the truck. I found his hair brush, deodorant...all kinds of crap. I hope they find the guy.
