I had this happen on my 08. B0DF8760-674F-4083-A8BD-333D7D6425AB.jpg
That switch is behind the brake pedal. Mine went out, new one wasn’t adjusted had to adjust it. It is threaded. Comes in and out with 1/4 of a turn. Basically is a switch to tell your truck when your foot is on the brake. When it goes out it doesn’t get that signal thus not being able to use the gear shifter. If that makes any sense. Your tail lights will not be working as well. At least that was my experiences with what your describing. Hope that helps.
