Hello all, I've been searching this site (and the rest of the internet) for a few hours and haven't really been able to find exactly what I'm looking for.

I'd really like to install a TrueTrac LSD in my 07 PreRunner V6. I think I've found that it is possible but I've not found any technical data for a do-it-yourself install. I'm sure it's out there, if someone could point me in the right direction it would GREATLY appreciated.

P.S.-- I'm pretty handy with a wrench (generally mechanically inclined) but do not have any experience with differentials. I really rather do it myself if I could find a good step-by-step

    Nate

Wow there's a lot of activity on these boards, this was already burried on the fourth page. I know there's got to be someone with some experience on this, again, ANY help would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks for all the info, VERY helpful for sure.

What's the part number to fit an 07 PreRunner V6? Everything I found through the TacomaWorld search says TrueTrac doesn't make one for the 07 PreRunner V6, is that just outdated info and now they do make them?

Are you positive you don't already have an LSD diff? Some of the SR5 packages came with them.
Easiest way to tell is to see if you have an "LSD Oil Only" sticker near the drain plug.

Interesting, I guess I'm not POSITIVE. I don't have any buttons or anything for VSC or whatever but I guess I should slide up under there and check for the "LSD Oil Only" sticker.

If I don't, which I'm pretty sure I don't, can I put a TrueTrac in? They look pretty sweet!

I don't see why not. The diff's haven't changed since the first Tacoma based on my research. If you order one for an 06 it should fit.

If you have a LSD already, the rear axle will look like this

Do me a favor and measure the stud diameters on the diff/housing. They should be 8mm or 10mm. I am pretty sure they are 10mm.

Thanks again for all the replies, you guys are awesome.

I did slide under the truck JUST to make sure and it has no "LSD oil only" sticker. I've got a totally open diff from what I can tell. I've done some more research and it seems like a Powertrax No-Slip is EVEN BETTER!!!

Cheaper, easier to install, and full lock... what more could you want! What do you guys think?
