Try and figure this one out? CEL on for 3 months

    The gas smelling weak was What Toyota told me. So, since then I ran 6 -7 tanks of high octane gas threw it I normally use 87. But the light is still on so I am ruling out that I had a tank of bad gas.

    Have you checked the fuel filter? Also, try clearing the code with a scanner.


    Im still puzzzled about this issue. :confused:

    EGR Bug Deflector, Tacoma Bed Mat, Remove secondary air filter, Yakima Roof Rack, Cobra CB Radio, Bilstein 5100 set to 1.75 in front, 1.5'' Block in rear.
    I just checked back in on this thread to see what the resolution was. Looks like it's still in trouble shooting mode. Bummer. If you find the problem please let us know. I'll just sit here and wait.:bored:

    Ok so here is an update to a thread almost started a year ago. The other day I got in my truck to move it and to my surprise the CEL light was off! Since then I have driven it about a total of 20 miles. It has been on for almost a year now its off mmmmmm any thoughts??

    Weak fuel pump? Clogged fuel filter? Something caught in gas line or injector? Bad spark plug?

    My guess is a vacuum leak or a weak fuel pump.

    One old trick for checking for pesky vacuum leaks is to take one of those hand held propane torches and turn the gas on (don't light it, LOL) and move it around all suspect areas including intake gasket areas etc. If you hit a spot and the idle speeds up dramitically, you found your leak :)
