Picked up my plugs to fix this issue, haven't driven it yet since install which took 15 seconds per side.

Here are pics of the plugs. Dealer/Service just ordered them in for me when I had the transmission TSB done and let me just pick them up (right or wrong). I think they captured it on my transmission ticket so Toyota paid for it. Someone always has to pay for it...

I just had my 5k service, and had brought it up when I made the appointment. Plus I had camo duct tape over the holes, so they could see I had already found the issue.

Just talked to Servco Toyota of Hawaii, I have to schedule an appointment over a month out and they want my truck for the entire day in order to install six rubber plugs. They have to test drive the vehicle and confirm the noise before they will do the work.

What a joke. The other option is to pay $4.73 for each plug and do it myself. Not a lot of money, only about $30., but it's the principal. Having to wait over 30 days and losing my truck for an entire day.

    ***rant over***

OP, thanks for posting the TSB.

You can buy cheaper plugs at lowes. An earlier thread about howling control arms part numbers are listed. Might save you some money. Or try duct tape first.

If you have the howl, you can take it in and they will order the plugs for you. It needs to be documented through the service department and they might want to verify the concern before ordering. Once they come in most will not allow you to install them yourself. However some might. Why pay cash out of your own pocket? Let Toyota eat it

Mine only howls (more of a whistle almost) in a strong crosswind. Getting the dealer to reproduce would be way to difficult to save a few $.

Yes doesn't matter if there is a TSB or not. If you want up to the parts counter they will charge you for them. If you take your truck to the service department and have the noise they will do the TSB under warranty procedures.

They may not have to duplicate it fully. If you went in with a copy of the TSB or the TSB number and tell them it only happens on a heavy crosswind I'm sure they would just order them

What exactly did you buy? I want to just grab some at Lowes since my dealer is telling me the TSB doesn't apply to the 17 model (despite the fact that the LCA looks the same)

You could go to the parts department and see if it's the same part number. My guess is that it is. A new/ fixed part may not have been superseded yet in the assembly lines. There for at some point that TSB should be extended to certain 2017 models

Time is worth something for some people. Lowes and a few bucks and it's done. Unless you are getting it done at a regular service, it is a waste of time to go in for it alone. Although I have had the plugs for 6 months and still haven't put them in, lol. And I have clearly stopped paying attention to the sound.
