Hey there, I see you're in Surprise, what dealership did you take it to? Did it help/fix the issue? I'm down in Chandler and the first dealership I brought this up to said the AC is performing normally...

I bet they did. Keep insisting. Remind them that it is not a feature of the tacoma to have the AC shut off.

So what dealership did you end up using? And how has this summer been? Is it a noticeable difference?

I just had this thing done. I was in Laughlin and had it overheat on me after sitting at idle for roughly 10 mins with the ac on. Outside temp was 108f. Valley hi Toyota did the install for me. It took about a week to get the parts and 2 days for the install. and I agree, it looks kind of hack job ish. it seems as if the tech didn’t know how to reinstall my interior trim pieces because the damn plastic kick panel is all bent to shit now. This is on a 19 Tacoma trd off-road with 16k on it. What kind of sucks though is that the fan is sitting about 1 1/2 inches from the condenser with no shroud to help direct air flow. I’m thinking of making a shroud and maybe installing a 12” spal race fan as the fan they supplied looks kind of weak.

Since I posted, I started wondering, why are some people's AC ice cold and others aren't? Seems odd that they came up with adding a fan as a fix when others' trucks work just fine without...

My 2019, DC OR MAN TRANS, when it’s hot out I notice at the stop lights it runs the rpm up to approx 950 rpm and back down. I assume this coincides with the compressor cycles. Now this only happens when it’s hot and I have been driving for a few. My ac is cool and I don’t notice any difference in temps coming out of the dash. I run auto usually 65-68 degrees. I wasn’t sure if the older 3rd gens rum the rpm up and down at a light or being stopped at all.

Perhaps intermittent issues with the stock fans clutch?

Likely because not everyone is in ambient temps over 100*F. My A/C feels nice until then too

Has anyone had this TSB performed on a 2019? Not sure if the additional fan and programming is already present or not. Didn't even know this was a known issue but was going to ask the dealer about it at my 10k service.

Well I did find out from the dealer that this TSB only applies to the AT trucks (of course) and not the MT trucks. The reasoning is that the AT trucks have the auto trans cooler up front that the MT trucks don't have, and this extra cooling for the trans causes extra heat up front, which can affect the AC at idle. So since that makes sense, they said they checked everything on my truck and ended up evacuating and replacing the refrigerant in my system. "Unfortunately" it's no longer 110+ here in AZ so I don't know if it helped or not. Yesterday it did seem a little better, but it was only 99 when I was out driving around.

Going in tomorrow to get this TSB checked out and parts ordered for it. Im assuming they dont have parts for it, so just a quick check and schedule a new apt for when the parts show up.

My truck is at the dealer now for this TSB. Been there since Monday, found out today that a sensor was blown and having to wait for that to come in.

So I went in, they came out said the AC was blowing just fine. I told them it needs to be 100+ degrees for it to act up. Advisor said its 90 and very humid so it should do it. After a little reading on the TSB they ordered the parts for it. Though not eta on when parts will show up.

Im a little nervous about them pulling apart my dash, but it should be all good when its done.

Is your truck a manual or auto? They said manuals (my truck) don't qualify since there is no auto trans cooler in the way. Either way, would love to hear how it performs after the TSB!

    Automatic.

Once its done, Im going to try to figure out what causes the new fan to turn on, if its temp related or speed related.
