Update: My truck is now in the shop getting the TSB done. I will report back when I get it back with when the fans kick on and off.

So I got my truck back last night, didnt get too much time to play with it before I went fishing.

But there were a few things I noticed right away. AC seems a little bit better, but still not great (still banking on the fact that the ac system was overcharged) The wiring that was done was a bit iffy. The power wire going from the battery to the new fuse box has zero slack, its tight to the point that I cant even get into the normal fuse box. So tonight I am going to spend some time taking apart the truck, note the poorly done wiring (by them and all the bad wiring done by me) and fix them all at once. It feels like they glued in the left side switch panel, I cant pull it out to plug back in my bass knob.

So I got to play around a little with my truck. I moved some of the wires around so I can get to my fuse box.

They put a nice scratch in my bumper when they removed the grill though :( Im not even going to attempt to have them fix it though, Ill just touch up paint it and be done.

But, overall I am happy with the repair.

Mine goes in for the TSB in a couple weeks. Parts on order. It’s been hot here in CO and at stoplights my air gets a lot warmer. I have to run Max AC, Recirculate and put it in N to keep the RPM’s up at idle. I’m hoping this helps. Nobody seems to have replied with any observations post fix. My biggest concern not getting it done while under warranty is what damage the compressor etc could get with pressures going up when it can’t keep up at idle. Hoping this gives it longevity.

I never experienced this. Here in the inland empire it’s been 110’f the couple of weeks. Mine is freezing cold even in traffic. Mine has the harmonic sound from the ac when acceleration but it seldom does it now compared to when it was new, can’t really complain.

So here are my thoughts on it, my ac was perfect and great till I got my compressor replaced. after the new compressor, the ac would blow cold then warm then cold then warm. I took it in and they said it was fine and within spec. Showed them the TSB and they did it. Now it blows cold then slightly cold, then cold then slightly cold. I still have some of the same issue as before, but its better.

My issue I think is more that they over charged my ac system, and dont want to recheck it. I had them do this TSB because I wanted to get the extra cooling fan while I could.

Some trucks are great, some are not, its kinda random. I think it has more to do with charge pressure than the truck itself.

I had the TSB done a few months ago and it is cold now! Of course it could be because they have to recharge your system when they do this TSB and my truck had over 45k miles on it already. The service manager also had them replace a pressure sensor as well, saying that all the vehicles that needed this TSB had also needed this sensor replaced. Some Dealer’s might not be replacing that sensor.
But I could tell an immediate difference in the cooling power of the truck after the TSB was done!

They dont recharge the system with the TSB, but replacing that pressure sensor would require them to recharge your system.

Thanks, I didn’t know if the TSB required a recharge or not. Are other dealers doing the pressure sensor too?

Mine didnt do one, but its probably not a bad idea to do it when the customer had a AC issue with poor cooling.

TSB-0063-18 is now obsolete, replaced with TSB-0093-20.

Is everyone that had this TSB performed happy that they did it?

So I just went through both TSBs to find what they changed... looks like the only thing changed is they removed 2 pages detailing how to modify the fan to fit (cutting off mounting tabs)
The fans have the same part number still, so not sure if they are just mounting the fans with the extra tabs sticking out.

I was not happy with how they wired it, so I redid some of the wiring myself. Otherwise it works as it should.

My dealer is saying that they can't perform this TSB on my truck since they can't replicate the failure. That's because the high in San Jose today is 62. Any suggestions on how to get the dealer to do this?

@5nahalf worked like a charm!! Thanks for the suggestion. My dealer is ordering the parts and will let me know when they come in.

Glad you got it sorted out. When they are all done, give the wiring they install a good look over, you may need to re-route some of them as they put them in a bit tight.
