    Cool stuff
Can I get the part number on the fan …. I figure I can do my own wiring since the dealership sucks at basic/clean wiring jobs

Post 26^. Unless you’re willing to pay hundreds for the Toyota one. The Amazon ones are cheap enough that you can use them as testers to see if you found they solved your problem, especially before you go to the TSB service or buy a massively over priced “OEM” one. Or maybe you’ll like those and just keep using them.

I actually ended up just using one, and I’m keeping the other one is a spare. It worked very well.

Not that I’m in a real hot climate area (Pa). It does occasionally get stinking hot in traffic.

Is this TSB for auxiliary fan install free under 3/36 warranty period?

Same, and they denied when I brought up the TSB note so I am opening a complaint with corporate.

Was just told by McGeorge Online parts that Corporate won’t release the fan even if I’m paying for it. They want me to go to a local dealer for the, to “diagnose the problem”.

    Follow-up:

Elmore Toyota came through. They had never heard of T-SB-0093-20 but were willing to get it ordered for me.

The Car Care Nut, Toyota Master Mechanic suggests that Toyota cheaped out and should have installed this fan from the factory. He says everyone should get this TSB done.

Check out the 20:04 mark regarding his comments on the Tacoma’s A/C system.

    https://youtu.be/b6tRAQ_r0Ms

I mentioned this to my dealer last September and they just said all normal. My A/C works good. But there was a noticeable degradation when were at our cabin last summer (Semi-arid desert region of Canada). It was 104 and the A/C was not as cold as it normally was while idling waiting for the family to get into the truck. I don’t go through those extreme temps too often so I haven’t made a bigger deal about it. It would be nice to have the fan installed while it’s still under warranty in case there is further degradation in the future.

Recently went to AZ (Phoenix) during this heat wave. No issues with A/C keeping cold or keeping passengers comfortable, even on unbelievably hot f%$#!g days ....

I did notice the A/C seemed to work better if I just kept it at 64* or so, but usually at 68*. When it was on 'LO' didn't seem to cool as well unless at hwy speeds, perhaps even over-cooling.

Only 3K miles on the truck, though.

You still pay for everything even with a TSB involved correct? Unless covered under warranty?

My 2013 has never cooled for shat when idling, even when it had 27k miles on it. Does fine driving. Most my driving is highway, so i just live with it. Wifes 2019 Highlander has an electric fan up front and cools great, idling or driving.

I've never done the tsb myself, i drive mostly highway and for aesthetic reasons I didn't really want the electric fan added. Via thermometer I can tell the a/c isn't as cold at 30*C idling but again I primarily drive highway. I still get 10*c from the vents idling in 30*c which is fine with me and i've never sat stationary long enough to trip the high pressure switch. If I was a city dweller who frequently was in rush hour traffic though I would look into the tsb kit even on my own dime.
Reason I say correct is because tsb's are not compulsory repairs like a recall so outside of warranty there is no obligation for them to remedy the concern so it will be customer pay. You'd have to check with a dealer for pricing

It’s a multiple hour job to do this and people may have to pay? I’m glad I did it myself- sounds like a good opportunity for someone to make a lower price kit to do it for people. Just the fans Toyota is using to do the work price out for more than $300 each. The ones I originally posted from Amazon (see products discussed link below) are $35 a pair and work very well.

Thats good, dealer parts are not usually cheap. If I were to do the tsb my main draw for dealer parts would be the parts warranty side and "Toyota reliability"

Has the AC systems been changed on the 21+ model years? The TSB says 2016-2020.

I noticed this summer that the AC just wasn’t keeping up when we were stuck in traffic on 100*+ days. I mentioned it to the service liaison and they supposedly “checked it out” and “it’s working properly.”

If the newer trucks have the same system, why’d they limit the TSB to 2016-2020?
