Guys, i have an 07 6 speed, and i have been told there is a TSB for the pilot bearing and throwout bearing squaling/making noise at idle. I have not found it and the dealers obviously cant find it, can any body here who know about it share it with me as i understand they will replace both bearings and the clutch at cost to them, but they are really hush hush about it.
    Thanks
    Jet..

^^ Ah-HA!! Your numbers are the same as mine, which are both different than what's on the TSB. This means absolutely nothing, though...

I won't even be picking up my new Tacoma until Tuesday, April 26. Should I assume that the TSB for "harsh ride" has been corrected at the factory, or are they still sending out defective trucks? Is there a way to determine from the VIN number if it needs to be corrected?

Thanks (this is my first post, so forgive my ignorance).

    Regards,
    Dan

Just count the number of leaves. The above photos show 4, but most likely you'll receive a truck that has 3. Way I understand it is that Toyota believes Americans want more of a comfortable ride.
    Congrats on your new truck!!

Congrats on the truck! The 3-leaf pack isn't a defect so much as a market customization, because as carcharias said, us Americans clearly just buy the truck for the ride, not to do anything useful with it [or so Toyota thinks]. You can get the TSB done by convincing your dealer, namely that it is necessary. Mine was extremely easy to deal with, but YMMV.

Best of luck and congrats again!

Thanks for the info, guys. I've enlarged all of the photos above and can only count 3 leaves, unless the very short one on the bottom (which appears to be inverted) counts. Help me count, so I'll know what to look for when I get mine. (The truck is for my cabin in WV, so I expect to be doing a lot of hauling...it's not just an "in town" show truck).

Also, I just looked at T-SB-0359-10 (rear spring harsh ride) and it says it is for 4x4 Tacomas with Access Cab or Double Cab. Mine is a regular cab. Sounds like it shouldn't be a problem for me, then. Does anyone know any different?

    Regards,
    Dan

Thanks for posting those pics. I have been reading this thread for 3 days! I've got a 2011 AC that I'm going get the TSB Done on.

Are you happy with the new rear springs? Can you tell a noticeable difference?

    Thanks,
    Johnny

No problem! Glad you enjoyed them. I am very happy with the new setup, because it does feel a bit stiffer and I like that. Plus it rides a little higher and feels great in doing so. My truck needed practically no work compared to many other trucks because of the fact that it is a TRD Sport '11, so very little changed for me. It rides more confidently, which I think is a plus. There is a difference definitely, but it was not like 'wow, I'm driving some completely different vehicle' difference.

Cool. Good to hear. I've got a 2011 2.7L 4x4 and one day after getting it I really started looking at the rear springs and was surprised at how wimpy they were - 2 leafs. I've been toying with the idea of putting on an OME 2.5" lift, but really don't want to spend the money, I just need my truck to be able to handle it's full payload and towing capacity.

I read on the 2011's for my style they only change the rear springs and was glad to see your pics and that they install a 3 leaf spring.

    I LOVE THIS FORUM!

Regarding the harsh ride TSB-I believe I have only three leaves in the back, so I don't think the TSB has been addressed on my truck. How exactly is the ride affected-should it be obvious? This is my second '05, and I think the TSB must have been addressed on my first, as I never had ride problems. My current truck seems a little squirrely going over bumps at speed. Any feedback appreciated. Also, is the AAL the answer?

since you are out of warranty, the easiest comparable fix to the TSB would be an AAL. they also bumped up to the HD bilsteins for the non-TRD trucks. you can get a set of those off here for cheap or upgrade to the bilstein 5100 (which are better) for a little more.

So I had a 1/2 ton of sand in the truck today. Here's pics. Do you think if I show the dealer this, they'll give me any trouble about doing the rear leaf spring?

That looks like alot. I have the TSB leafs and I can tell you with that amount they would be bouncing off the bumpstops as well. I don't haul much in the bed of my truck anymore unless it's a yard of bark. Rock and sand just weighs too much.

I've been getting loads of sand with mine lately (canadian so it has the tsb leafs to begin with).. and it doesn't ride on the stops... but it does hit them with any shift in the road. has about 1.5inch when sitting still. With that said... a 4x3x1 pile of sand is 12 cubic feet = 1200lbs at 100lbs/cube.. over capacity with a driver. Springs feel a bit softer after a couple loads. If you want to be hauling like that more than a once or twice a year i think dakar leaf springs are the way to go!

I've only noticed this a couple times now on my month or so old 2011... What is the fix for this issue? Its not that bad, since it only happens once in a while. Sounds like its coming from the bottom of the windshield or driver door mirror area. Any links to the Service Bulletin for this item???

    Thanks

I went to my local dealer to ask about getting the leaf spring TSB done on my '10 double cab 4x4 SB and the service rep told me that it would make the ride nearly un-drivable and harsher than a 1 ton pickup unloaded. He said the truck would bounce around unloaded and I should only do it if I am towing every day.

I have a feeling it's not going to be that bad, but it kind of spooked me. I think they just don't want to do the work.

How is the ride unloaded with the spring tsb?
