Thats a good idea for people who are getting shit from their dealer about the TSB. Just go in with a load in the bed...

it's not that bad at all. stiffer, yes...unbearable as they are saying, no. sounds like they are just trying to get out of doing the work by making excuses.

Good to hear. The guy also tried to scare me by telling me that if I hated it, it would cost $2000+ to put the original leaf springs back on because the work wouldn't be covered once I had the TSB done.

I'll call him back and tell him to just make the appointment to have it done and I'll deal with the stiffer ride. I bought a truck, not a camry for a reason.

Not sure if this is the right place to request a TSB or not but does anyone have a copy of or access to TSB2796?

Actually what's written down on this piece of paper is:

    Code:
    TSR 2796
    9.08.07
Anyone have any idea what this bulletin might be or where I can get a copy of it? I think it's internal to Toyota only because I can't find it on my All Data Pro.

that says TSR, not TSB. it's also not the correct syntax as normal TSBs.

Sorry there was a crinkle in the paper.

That's what the service manager wrote down. They also mentioned not to tell Toyota Canada where I got the number from when I call them. This is in relation to a problem I am having with my Tacoma right now.

    So the paper actually says:

    Code:
    TSB2796
    9.08.07

That's part of the problem. The manager wouldn't show me the document. Maybe I should explain the whole problem and that would make things easier.

Right now I'm in the middle of trying to get Toyota to cover the entire cost of replacing both of my rear quarter panels on my 2007 Toyota Tacoma 2x4 SR5 Access Cab. I'm of course 6 months out of warranty but I'm trying to argue that this problem shouldn't have occurred AND that my local Toyota Service Center I go to should have noticed the problem before my warranty expired because they've had my truck up on their jacks multiple times and always caught extra cost things like rotors needing to be serviced.

Here is a basic run down of the problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94zX2EX0KII

So far I've gotten them to cover 50% of the repair. I used the TSB I found in this thread (NV007-07) to argue that this was a known problem and even though my VIN doesn't match that TSB (which is an American TSB and the VINs in the Canadian version of that TSB might be different) Toyota clearly has a problem with the back end of their truck that they thought they'd fixed.

I've got lots of pictures if you'd like to see :)

Funny you should say that. All I keep hearing from the two Toyota Service Centers I've been to is "We've never seen this happen before on a Tacoma" and "Well the problem is you drive your truck off pavement on a service road. It's not meant for that."

Problem is I drive that service road twice a week, 2 hour round trip (80km), 8 months of the year. Should my back end really be falling apart?

For the first year I don't think I had the canopy at all. I bought it in 2008 and only take it off if needed and then put it right back on. Since I bought the canopy I've never driven the service road with out it. Well except for the last two trips since I took it off so Toyota could get a look at things and just left it off.

Something I didn't put into that video. The entire wall of the box is loose as well. You can shake it with your hand.

The reason I asked about the canopy , is that I used to have a Ford Ranger with an over the cab lumber rack , and one thing I discovered was that any loading on the rack pushed the rear of the box sides down and outwards with only the tailgate latches to hold the sides from spreading . Driving over bumpy roads forced this motion to occur with each bump , eventually , over years tearing the box metal .

My truck developed almost all of the symptoms you show in your video .

I was at the dealership today, and I am picking up my new Tacoma this afternoon. I alerted them to the TSB. The *young* guy in a shirt and tie at the service center.said that a TSB is just a clue to a technician that something may be wrong, meanwhile I'm holding all 18 pages of the TSB outlining replacement parts and R&R procedures.

It looks like I'm going to have to drive this around with the cap on it for a couple of weeks and then bring it back in complaining. I just couldn't get them to do it before they give it to me.

I am completely amazed about how a "Romano Toyota" is a dealer that just seems to disassociate themselves with Toyota. I heard more often than not "That's between Toyota and you" in this process of buying a vehicle, and giving up my 1999 to the frame rot recall. A hard day, being that I had 4 newish tires, a replacement transmission, and a new battery in it, I expected it to last another 4 years.

    Too few to list.
Big mistake right there, you should have not picked it up without them agreeing to doing the TSB. Technically, if you don't drive the truck out of the lot it still belongs to the dealership regardless of what was signed and deposited. It seems like for most it's such a pain to get the TSB done.
