Does your truck have to be under warrenty to get a TSB done?

The short and simple answer is yes. A precious few have had luck getting TSB work done out of warranty, but they are the exception.

So it looks like my new Off Road TRD DC has 3 leafs :(
Is it just a matter of payload, pulling capacity or is there a considerable ride quality issue. It does seem harsh but I just thought that was the nature of trucks. Also wouldn't an additional leaf make the ride more stiff?
Is there any reason one WOULDN'T do the tsb if fully covered?
I'll do it since I'm looking at eventually putting a camper on my truck, but was curious if this is critical or just comfort based.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
it has to do w/ the truck not being able to support the advertised payload capacity. the 4th leaf does make the rear handling slightly stiffer, but it's nothing terrible. you can do the fix yourself w/ an AAL. you'll probably notice the sag when you add the camper.

    Ok thanks for confirming.
It's a free upgrade and it'll work better with the camper so I'll call my dealer and have them schedule me in for the fix.
Anything else I should have them do while I'm in there? (I looked through about 10 pages of these tsb's but couldn't find anything else for the 2011's...).
    Thanks!

Does your new truck exhibit any issues? If not then a specific TSB would not pertain to you. TSBs aren't recalls. Just because a TSB is issued it doesn't mean every vehicle will experience a problem associated with a specific TSB.

Given that the leaf spring tsb is well regarded as a "should do", I wasn't sure if there was another tsb that's readily addressed at the same time since you've alreadygtit the truck in for work...if not I'll leave it to this one only.

It rides alot better loaded and a little stiffer with nothing in bed. the other plus is the 4x4 is a little lower than the prerunner so this changes the highth back to the prerunner:)

there are lots of reason it could come on....most times it's either a broken clockspring in the steering wheel or a loose connection under the seat.

Could there possibly be a recall out for the problem?

It rides more like a pickup truck. That's the only way to describe it.
I'm much happier with the rear leaf TSB, both with and without a payload.

If you don't use your truck as a truck, and want a sports car like ride, then don't do the TSB. It's a different ride.

    Yeah.
Unfortunately the updated TSB for the harsh ride no longer includes free Bilsteins for non-TRD models 2009 and up. But there are TWO dash rattle TSB's now! I may not get cool yellow shocks, but maybe some peace and quiet.

Hey guys I'm having a WTF moment... I printed the harsh ride tsb and took my 2 week old 2011 double cab 4x4 off road trd to the dealer. After presenting them with the issue they said it did not apply to my particular vehicle. It only applied to a manual transmission one...?!
I clearly have 3 leafs and the fix, I presumed, was to have 4.
How can a vehicle not qualify based on that? I thought it was simple enough, you got 3 leafs, you qualify...
    Enlighten me please???

    Tarik,

take it somewhere else! Perhaps someone here could collect all the bs responses and make a book out of it. Yours is the best one I've heard...what a crock of shit.

I wished I was in the mood for buying a new one right now...I would be all over their ass with the tsb's. I would say that I am not buying it unless they order all the tsb's for it with proof in hand... I bet that could get them going...

And why in hell is toyotat continuing to produce the trk with only 3 leafs??? Cost savings?
