    Yeah.
Well, here's a story for you. Took my truck to the dealer yesterday to deal with a few issues before warranty runs out. No problem on the harsh ride TSB, parts are being ordered.

Then we get to the buzzing in the dash. Pretty simple TSB procedures there. They note that I have an aftermarket stereo and bezel. I ask them to check their records, which show that they replaced the stock radio once and attempted to fix the buzzing in the dash at the same time. The new radio crapped out within a month, and the buzzing was still there when I left the parking lot. Buzzing preceded new stereo. They say I have extra wires and zip ties under there, that could be it. Were you not just listening? I say yes, because they didn't fix the problem so I bought my own damn radio, and I have no idea which zip ties are theirs or mine. I kindly ask them to JUST DO WHAT THE TSB SAYS and we'll go from there. They basically refuse to do the TSB's because they don't "see" anything wrong and I have confused the situation by adding a few speaker wires. A-holes. Guess I will do the TSB's myself.

I had a shimmy at 65-70, so I was having them balance and rotate the tires. They note that all wheels have "excessive radial runout." I didn't know what that meant and just thought it was a random tire term. So I Googled it when I got home, and basically what they are telling me is that either the rims are defective, tires are defective, or they didn't mount them right in the first place. After refusing to do a simple TSB, they give me this ammo to get new wheels and/or tires from them? I hate these crappy Dunlops anyway.

Tarik on the first page of the TSB where it says applicability, the last line in the very first square it says "WMI(s): 3TM, 5TE,5TF" Those are the first 3 letters of the VINs that are affected. If any one of those is yours, yours is due for the TSB.

If the issue is brought up about manual or auto, ask them to point to you WHERE it says that on the TSB.

First, not all TSBs issued will affect every truck manufactured. I have only had an issue with the transmission shift and the rear leafs. I theorize
some TSBs are related to location of production and parts suppliers.

Also, the turnover rate for service advisors is almost as high as salespeople. Don't expect a service advisor to know a specific TSB for a specific model and configuration especially since Toyota produces more than one model.

And the answer is somewhat of a yes to your question. Most Americans prefer a softer ride. Also, of all of the Tacoma production over the last 6 to years Toyota has maybe changed out 10% of the three leaf packs for four leaf packs so yes cost savings is huge.

What they told me is that although the 3TM are the first 3 digits my trucks VIN, the other digits used to define a specific model, are not - and those are the 5 digits following the 3TM digits...in my case those are LU4EN.
On pages 10 and 12 of the TSB you can see (w/TRD)LU4EN - except in the manual, not the automatic, section of the TSB. This is where they are making a claim that my truck doesn't apply - my truck is an auto, not a manual, and so since LU4EN doesn't show up in the automatic section, they have an out.
Honestly I think they're using this detail to work against me and so my only option is to take it to another dealer and hope for more cooperation.

Took my truck to a different dealer in town.
Showed them the tsb. No questions asked, they're ordering the parts and they'll be installed next week. They'll also address a recall issue having to do with the wheels (any ideas what that would be?).
Toyota better get it's shit straight. This kind of complete lack of consistency in dealership service is so unacceptable.

I went to the site at the top of this sticky. No doc ever opens, and when I tried to download a TSB, I saw the same empty window with the spinning "wheel", like it was still trying to open or download the TSB.

I am using Firefox 4.0.1 and Ubuntu 11

Glad that it worked out for you.

It's probably for the TPMS. Tire pressure monitoring system. The thingies that tell you your tires are low.

Your best bet is to pay the $15 for a three day use of the TIS site and download all of the TSBs you want.

This is my first post. I joined to thank yall for posting the Rear Spring Harsh Ride TSB. I went down to toyota with 1000 lbs. of cement in the bed. They asked me to fax over the TSB I printed out from here, than they got the ok from there Toyota rep, ordered parts, and installed today:) It took a few weeks going through the process, but they gave me no hassles. The ride is not much different under no load. I really couldn't tell much difference. It does have a little more truck ride, but that's what I bought:D Haven't tried it out under full load yet. Thanks again.

The tranny shifting TSB was to correct a hard shift between 1st and 2nd , usually experienced during a rolling stop . The revs would race but the shift to second was late and ill timed .

My truck also hunts a bit at the speed you state , it seems to be right on the cusp of the shift point from D to 4th . In my opinion these trucks tend to hold D for a bit too long and at too low of revs before kicking down to 4th

So if I am going to file for the harsh ride TSB then I print the document pertaining to that then take it to the dealer? I checked my VIN # and I am eligible I just don't know what process to take..

I noticed that too. I was wondering if I was the only one. I don't think I've seen anyone else on TW mention it before.

No prescribed method, it depends on the dealer...
    -play it dumb
    -come in with slip
-come in with a load and show evidence
-contact customer support line and get a support case

I knew my dealer was pretty good and went out of their way to help, so I went in and let them know about the TSB, even though it wasn't covered for my year at the time. He went to bat, called up corporate and asked if they could extend the TSB to me or come up with some sort of service number that would substitute... he made it happen!

Go speak with a service advisor and tell them you are experiencing a harsh ride when loaded and ask if there are any corrections for this issue. If the service advisor says they are not sure about a solution then mention you found a TSB that may relate to the issue you described.

I am trying to look at these two TSB but am unable to open them. I do have some squeal noise from my wondshield at highway speeds and also have had a knocking under the front end for years and have not been able to identify it. Is there anyway you could send me this info
NV006-07 AUG 07 Body - Windshield Wind Noise at Highway Speeds
    NV007-05 JUN 05 Body - Front/Rear Popping/Knocking Noise on Rough Roads

    Thanks

Where is the TSB number or information re: harsh ride in this thread? I have a 2011 Tacoma SR5, Manual, 4 cyl with build date of March 2011. VIN first three are 5TF.

Found it! Mine is 2WD. Apparently doesn't apply to it (hopefully). Regardless, I am more concerned about ride with an empty bed than one with a load in it. Very, very seldom carry heavy loads.

2008 Base 4cyl 5 spd .....1st 3 of VIN or my WMI is 5TE which is listed under the harsh ride suspension TSB but I dont have an access cab or double cab which it originally calls for am I SOL?? Or can I get the dealer to do it..no big deal putting on a lift with an AAL anyway but it would save me the rear leaf add and shock install time
