I snapped a couple, hose just sits in the channel I haven't glued it in since I want to easily take it out if a tsb occurs.

Interesting, never considered overpressure... it only happens at 50+ mph and only with a 20+mph sidewind... hell of a challenge to get the dealer to duplicate. you can feel the door pulling away from the truck... happened since brand new on both sides.

Is this vent behind the rear seat? What would I be looking for?

It varies on trucks/Models. Check the rear of the cab center area. You may be able to see a "grill" covering the opening... Do you have a sliding rear window - id so try just cracking it open a little and re test

Finally got off my butt and went to have the spark knock tsb and the bump from behind "clunk when shifting" tsb done. The service guy just kinda acted like it was no big deal and said we will look at it. Even after I told him there was a tsb for it. He called the "master tech" who would be working on it for me up to talk to me. He said he couldnt promise anything but would look at it, didnt really seem like he was understanding what I was saying. The service guy assured me the tech would figure it out as hes rated "one of the top master techs in the country". So the day I droppedit off I printed out the tsb and took it with me to give to the tech. The next day the tech called me to talk about it and said he couldnt get it to do the bump. He said they werent gonna just throw parts at it and cost me money. So I then asked him why it would cost me anything as its a tsb and that I printed it out and gave it to the service guy to give to him. He said he didnt see any papers and then asked the service guy where the papers were at while I was on the phone. Apparently the service guy had to hunt them down. He must not have thought I knew what I was talking about. The tech read the paper and said, man let me do some checking and we will call you right back. 15 mins later I recieved a call saying it was going to be done and no cost to me. Just wanted to keep you posted to my outcome. Sorry for the long windedness.

I really hate when stupidity is the driving force behind customer service. Too often events unfold as just described. The Company spends much time to train, and display proudly on their walls, the certifications of the Managers, employees and Service techs. I really wish they would mandate a course for all employees to take. I'd call it "Duh! 101"

I bought my '12 from a non toyota dealer, has 88k miles. Its haveing a few tsb issues. Do they transfer owners or since its not new from toyota will it not matter.
Also how do i go about getting them fixed. I called to aske about the sagging springs and they said the only tsb out for my truck is something with the valve stems. but according to this list theres about 4. i need taken care of. vibrations around 15-25, leaf springs are flexed backwards.

would they cover these at no costs, or is it going to be all on me. Also i installed a 3" lift. spacer, but its only temporary until i can get money together for a full on kit.

tsb's are not recalls....you can fix whatever you want if you're willing to pay for the repairs. tsb's are not covered under warranty unless
the vehicle is covered. also keep in mind that not all vehicles will fall under certain tsb's....it goes by VIN and production date.

    Hello Everyone

I am rather new to all this, and the below is pretty long.
--The nut of it is that I'm concerned--with a rapidly closing drivetrain warranty window--about the fact that manual transmissions are not included in the 2012 and 2014 TSBs. And there is the question of: If Toyota refuses to cover this and I just let it ride... Does everything eventually go to hell? Do I wind up with the driveshaft dancing on the pavement?

    I have a 2012 Tacoma: RWD, Access cab, MANUAL 5 spd, I4

I reviewed Driveline Vibration T-SB-0008-14 and 2012 one. They specify automatic transmissions. Anyone heard of Toyota covering repairs for a MANUAL?

    My situation:
Still in drivetrain warranty (bought new Jan 2013)
At 54,400k: sudden change. Truck has a deeper, throaty sound and slight rumbling (for lack of a better word) coming from below and behind driver seat. Also the sound of bearings (hell, what do I know what it is) or glass marbles clacking. Coming from same direction.
I hear this exactly as described in the TSBs.
I get to 15 mph in 1st gear, put it in 2nd, push right through 25 mph—and it’s a different animal.
Handling is the same. Just sounds and feels like it hit puberty and voice changed—and it thinks it grew a couple more cylinders.

    HOWEVER
Right NOW I get a very slight vibration in floorboard—BUT nowhere else.

    Questions:
Will this get worse over time?
I ask because I’m at 55,900k/a few months of drivetrain warranty left.
    It’s a short window.
I wonder whether Toyota would cover me before warranty expiration…

Keeping in mind that my expertise doesn’t extend much beyond changing oil:
The TSBs seem to be addressing symptoms, but not causes.
My mechanic says something about the leaf springs is causing drive shaft angle to change. Doesn’t sound great.

I’d appreciate any info you have.
    THANK YOU

Fortunately My 2012 is a base cab and without this issue. So, others can probably better advise on the symptoms. But, If it's under warranty,
I'd brig it to the best dealer I could find, discuss all of this including the TBS, and be sure to tell him of all the noises and such (Almost sounds like a carrier bearing or u joint?) and have them check it out/test drive WITH you in the Truck.

Get if fully documented so you have all the info in your record jacket.

It may be something else - and they may find it and fix it on the spot. IF not, you have a record of this happening BEFORE the warranty has run out. JMHO

Will be taking my '12 prerunner in soon to get the "pinging problem" reflash of the ecm done under 8/80k warranty; for clunk/thunk out of the 5/60k warranty, however i have a 8/75k Vehicle Service Plan (VSP) so we'll see what they say....

Sorry Canufixit. I went a little awol there. The dealer service folks seemed to never have heard of secondary drive line vibration. I drove the thing for the tech but it was hard to point out the sound etc . to him because he wasn't very experienced. He even said he hadn't done much work on Tacos.
They took her in and diagnosed her with a bum u-joint. The one at trans-axle end (remember it's RWD). Would have u-joint and whole kit by next day.
I went in early and they got it done in 90 minutes. 100% covered under drive train warranty.
Drove out and everything was wonderful. A little voice was telling me it still sounded slightly louder than before all this began--but that could be an illusion, and i told the voice to shut up. Light vibration was gone.
The other day I realized that everything is just about all the way back up to the same volume/vibe as the day I went to the dealership.

If I were cynical I might say that the easiest way to get rid of a guy who mentions the TSBs bout drive line... is to give him a nice new u-joint. And I would guess cheapest way, if TSB warranty money is less.
No fighting, and nothing from them about truck maybe having drive line vibe--but not meeting TSB criteria for coverage. Just said the problem was the u-joint, period.
And it could be that the u-joint was one piece of the problem.
    We'll see....

Hey, great write up and lots of help in the comment area. I'm having an issue with intermittent starting and was trying to read up about TSB-EGO11. I click the link on the bottom of the OP to read about all the TSB's and it opens a link in divshare about the Korean War? Is anybody else having trouble with that link? Just trying to see if the details in the TSB coincide with the issue I'm having. Thanks
