Hey members sorry for asking a question that’s probably been asked before but I couldn’t find the answer. So I read on here the TSB update also applies to manual transmission Tacoma’s but the service rep said there isn’t one for my car. He plugged my VIN into his computer and it said no updates. Can someone please clarify for me if my truck can get the update.

Thanks for the link. I saw that thread and it looks like instructions to do it my self. I’m at the dealership right now trying to argue with them about doing my update. I feel like I’m getting brushed off and I can’t convince them my truck applies to the tsb update.

The TSB is for a Surge in Automatic transmission Tacomas, but burried in that TSB is where the ID#s apply to the Manuals.

Thanks, I knew someone here could help me. Does anyone know if there is an update on 4runners? I swear my 2016 has the same transmission issue.

I have an 18 T4R Pro, and it has 0 issues with the tranny/driving characteristics. What issues are you having specifically?

It’s in that linked thread. You just have to mention the specific TSB number and then the “surge” characteristic and they’ll do it.

That said, it’s hit or miss dealer to dealer. Might have to try a few places
