In that same regard, the "band-aid" might not even be the fix we hope it is. If condensation is an issue in the box, I could see the new cover preventing evaporation. Time will tell, I guess.

Had mine in for its 10K service on Saturday, and the dealer wouldn't do the TSS recall because of my "oversized" tires (265/75/16) :annoyed:

No biggie...I'll just put my stock wheels and tires on for its 15K service, since I'll need to rotate/balance anyway.

This whole situation is ridiculous. Very unfortunate for the die-hard Tacoma fans that like modding.

Wonder how that would hold up over time, like 5 or 10 years?

That's unfortunate. I have the same tire size and the dealer did the recall maintenance with no issues.

I wish they were the company that sold all those crappy 3.0L 4Runners, or maybe the company that sold me that rust-bucket 1972 Celica, or even better, that shoddy company that sold me that death-trap 1994 Toyota pickup with the paper-thin doors and crap paint.

Toyota has never had a golden age. Expect for 90’s era Camrys. Those are truly great vehicles. All other offerings have a normal amount of things to complain about, if you are the kind of person who likes to complain all the time.

They mentioned that the calibration would be "all messed up". If ~13mm in ride height makes that much of a difference, then what about spring settle and tire wear, not to mention front end dive when braking? I call BS. There are no codes/errors with mine, and I live in AZ, so my Give A Fuck module is off for this particular thing.

I brought all those things up along with others. The dealer just kind of looked at me and said Toyota wouldn't let them do it.

    A few.
So with this ongoing recall. If they disable/turn off the tss feature does it have to be turned on every time you start the engine or does it stay on once its turned back on with the steering wheel buttons? Seems to be some conflicting info.

I had an appointment today to get the fix done on my pre collision thing. Was there for about 45 minuets.

Honestly don't see how it could help anything, but if something happens in the future my ass will be covered.

Never even mentioned my aftermarket grill.

Looks like your sensor stayed in the same spot with that grille so it wouldn't affect it.

Well I brought my Taco in for the 15k service and the recall today. My truck is lifted with a decent amount of aftermarket items, but they couldn't do the recall fix solely because the front camera I installed is blocking the sensor that needs to be re-calibrated. They asked me to move the camera out of the way and come back. I've had really good experiences with this dealership, so I have no reason not to believe them. I'm just curious if anyone else has been turned away because of a front camera?

I just got mine back from a 20K service. I hadn't seen this thread heading into the service. I don't have a lift but while the service was being done I asked about what would effect the warranty if I put a lift kit and tires on the truck. The guy was pretty cool and said they can't get the service covered, guessing by corporate, if there was a lift kit or oversized tires on the vehicle. Reason they gave me is the calibration of the radar and how it is tied to the camera. Adding 2+ inches from a lift throws the calibration and camera height and in a round about way he said it was a liability thing. Said that anything that can be linked to damage from the lift kit would be void of warranty. Scare tactics not to get it... but I'm cheap and if anything breaks I want them paying for it. I was just starting to pick out the lift to :/

I noticed they noted my in grill light bar on my service sheet. If they claim that ever effects anything I will laugh since it is completely independent of any wiring.

4Runner Trail wheels and Toyo Open Country ATII tires 265-70-17. Cosmetic stuff like Pro grille and OffRoad black bumper trim, vinyl delete on side, added hood graphic, OEM tube steps.
Wonder what my local dealer with modified brand new trucks all over their front line is doing? On any given day there are 5 lifted faux Pros sitting there waiting for buyers.

I just bought an aftermarket grill w/ garnish cover for my 2018 OR... Is it likely that I'll have problems when I take it in for service? Should I return the grill? I bought an extended (8 year) warranty.. would this affect being covered by that?

Slightly off-topic. How long did it take to your truck back? I took mine in 8:30am Saturday morning and said they didn’t have the recalled parts?? Sent me away with a RAV4 loaner, saying it may be 4 days.

You should expect it’s likely they won’t do the fix. But some dealers are still doing the fix regardless of pro grill.

Don’t worry about your extended warranty. Grill won’t be the culprit for expensive repairs.
